No wonder the company is tanking (4 basic fixes we need yesterday)

I continue to try to be patient, because, when they actually work, my speakers sound amazing. But good grief, Sonos! I feel like my kid could run this company better.

On going issues:

  1. Despite the email advertising lossless streaming directly to my speakers, when I actually try to stream to my speakers … no sound. My Apple Music ap says it is playing, but no. Nothing. The only way to listen is by using the crappy Sonos ap.
  2. On the crappy Sonos Ap, there are four basic flaws that simply mystify me:
    1. How hard it is to search. Besides the odd placement of the search bar on the landing page, after you do select a song, why the hell isn’t there a search icon on the new page! Why do you make us back out to the landing page to search?
    2. When we tap on the “three dot circle”, why the hell isn’t there options to go to the artist and the album RIGHT THERE. It is so damn hard to get to an album.
    3. Why oh why, in this day and age of technology, can’t we just tap on the image of the album and GO TO THE ALBUM?
    4. Why is there no Rhyme or Reason to how albums are listed? They seem neither alphabetical nor chronological. (And really, would I be so hard to give us the year the album was released right there in the listing?

No wonder the company is tanking. It’s like this ap was designed by people who don’t even listen to music!

Are you streaming from the Apple Music app to your speakers via AirPlay or Bluetooth? If so, lossless playback is not supported. You have to stream directly from the Sonos app for lossless quality.

Also, some older Sonos devices (like the Play:3) don’t support lossless playback.

You don’t have to search just from the main Home Page - you can search from the landing page of each installed music service too.

    1. When we tap on the “three dot circle”, why the hell isn’t there options to go to the artist and the album RIGHT THERE. It is so damn hard to get to an album.

I think you can search for artist - see my attached screenshot.

    1. Why oh why, in this day and age of technology, can’t we just tap on the image of the album and GO TO THE ALBUM?

This is a personal thing, I’m not sure that I would want this, as an accidental tap on screen/album art might take me to a screen that I never intended to view - I prefer it on one of the ellipsis menus.

    1. Why is there no Rhyme or Reason to how albums are listed? They seem neither alphabetical nor chronological. (And really, would I be so hard to give us the year the album was released right there in the listing?

Totally agree, but I think this is down to each individual music service as to how they choose to display their data/information in the Sonos App… Sonos just provides the API for them to use.

Also to ‘quickly’ return to the App HomePage after browsing through screens in the App,  just hit the ‘SONOS’ logo top centre of screen… see attached.

Thanks, Ken. Appreciate your time. But...

  1. There should be a way to search while still in Sonos, without backing out - in pages like the one I show in the image below (e.g. a little magnifying glass icon next to the “SONOS” name). SEARCH  is one of, if not THE most important function.
  2. We should be able to jump to artists and albums from the kind of eclipses tab I show in the second image below.
  3. Fair enough on the “tap on the image” point. I’d be satisfied if I could at least get there quickly from the ellipses menu (see point #2)

If you select the ellipsis shown here - do you not see the option to "Browse the Artist" (Tom Watts)? See attached…

+1 Tap on image does something on every other part of the app. It would be consistent if tapping it in the now playing also linked to the release and service.

Agree that searching for something isn’t as useful as being able to browse to an artist or album easily.

*1 The floating search should be available everywhere.

Sonos hasn’t even returned the missing features they deleted from the old app but hopefully it won’t be another 9 months before they add refinements such as these.

Ah! Good. Thanks. That helps. I was touching the ellipses next to the shuffle. So, I amend my complaint to:

  1. Put that option in BOTH ellipses. There is plenty of room after all.
  2. Add the option to go to the album.

I’m fine with having the search option ‘everywhere’, but a tap on the top ‘SONOS’ logo does quickly return the user to the Home Screen & Search Bar - so it’s probably almost as quick as the magnifying glass suggestion.

IKR. How hard is it to do this? And why the hell hasn’t someone thought to do so yet.

As I said, it’s like they don’t even use their own product to listen to music. Bizarre.

I’m not sure Sonos can do your first suggestion, see my first screenshot above in this thread, which is a playlist of tracks by different artists (a compilation album etc.) so that top ellipsis menu would not be able to cater for ‘Browse by Artist’, simply because the playlist below it has multiple artists - I think that’s why the option is just on the ellipsis menu next to each track.
