Ever since the Sonos app update was forced on users it’s been nothing but trouble. It doesn’t remember what level surround speakers are at because it quits working, times out, or whatever it’s doing. The only way to fix is to “Force Close” the app on my phone and restart it each time I want to adjust the levels on my surround or do anything else with it. The old app version worked great. Even if I turned my phone off as soon as the wireless reconnected the surround levels would adjust to where they were set previously and it worked like normal.
Totally agree. Only noticed the mess when I tried to access my music library on my nas - not possible from google pixel phone or ipad. Allegedly, still works on Windows, but I’m not walking around the house brandishing a laptop. Luckily I can access my music library via a pi based player and a sonos connect…really Sonos? Also, the layout of the updated app is anything but intuitive - I had developers fresh from uni that delivered a better user experience.
Yes, I am a retired software architect with 30+ years experience under my belt.
Since this update we have had no end of trouble. We can’t stop the music unless you force it to close every time and I hate the new layout too. I agree it is not intuitive at all. I am pleased to see others are having the same problem and it’s not just me. Sonos please fix this urgently!!!
Just learned that I cannot now edit existing playlists via the app on my phone, has to be done via desktop. Doesn't really feel like progress, would have thought that the way forward was increasd local functionality.

“Completely agree with the negative comments on the Sonos 2 application. It is urgent to give the possibility of returning to the Sonos 1 version. I see the difference between my smartphone, on which I had not activated the update automatic, which is therefore still under Sonos 1 and which works perfectly (for years!) and my tablet on which I had unfortunately activated the automatic update function and which switched to Sonos 2. Disaster, nothing worked anymore . It's a little better now, but I would like to go back to version 1, this version 2 having only brought me bugs and no improvement in my personal use. For example, calling stations from the recent playlist is no longer possible, the system indicates “an incident has occurred”...
I believed that returning to version 1 was possible. I wasted hours trying, to no avail. Currently when I click on “return to version 1”, the application directs me to… my auto assistance site!!! Who knows why! Please do everything possible to provide this possibility of downshifting.
Very disappointing for a system that I found very successful and efficient until then.”
