I use the Sonos app on my MacBook Pro as I can edit playlists with it. it's now asking me to update the app! I'm reluctant to do so, due previous experience. Anyone else have experience of the latest Mac App update?

The desktop apps are not receiving anything but security updates. There have been no UI or feature updates. You should be fine to update the app.
I also run the app on a MacBook Pro and like you was reluctant. I did update yesterday and all seems ok
