It’s interesting how a topic can be closed before a fix is made.  I suppose because there was no activity the subject was not important enough which does make sense.  Seems there aren’t that many in this community that listen to gapless orchestral music in Atmos.
Trying to listen to Mason Bates: Anthology of Fantastic Zoology streamed from Apple Music in Spacial Audio.  The bumps at louder track transitions is very irritating.  Maybe this can’t be fixed.  Would love to know.

The forum software is not context aware and topic close based on a simple countdown timer from the last post.

About all you can do is get the thump, submit a diagnostic and call support. Noting the diag number and album/track info might be useful. Maybe collect a few extra thumps from different albums to give the Sonos folks more to look at?

It’s not really a “thump”.  The “bump”, as I have named it, is more like a glitch that can be heard at track transitions when the music is louder.  The “bump” is no louder than what is playing.  It just makes itself known.  If you have an Atmos capable system & Apple Music try the piece I mentioned in the above post.  See if you can hear what I hear.  It’s not Atmos on Amazon Music Ultimate.

When I play the same piece through the Port which is not Atmos capable there are no “bumps”.  This is a Dolby Atmos gapless issue.

A couple years ago I sent Chris from Audiophile Style a video demonstrating this “bump”.  He agreed it was very distracting.  He was also kind enough to send me a video of the same piece playing on his Atmos setup which was not Sonos.  The track transitions were perfect.  So Atmos gapless playback is possible.

I don’t blame anyone for closing the subject.  I do realize I have unusual taste in music.

You are not alone. Seamless gapless playback is a must, not an option for any decent audio system.
I’ve checked the record you mentioned on Apple Music and definitely heard those glitches when Spatial Music was tuned on in Sonos settings. After having Spatial Music turned off the gapless playback was perfect.
All those gaps and glitches irritate and ruin music listening, especially for the records which you know and love from the vinyl or CD days.
Not only orchestral/ classical music - progressive rock albums, operas, live concert recordings just to name a few.
Imagine listening e.g. Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ or ‘The Wall’, or the Beatles’ Abbey Road in “non-gapless” mode. Nightmare.

This is definitely an issue which should be addressed and fixed by Sonos and Apple ASAP.

Not saying that the issue definitively isn’t on Sonos side, but it could very well be an issue with Apple’s implementation of atmos through Sonos as well.  Even if your counter example of playing atmos content on another system was also sourced from Apple, it’s entirely possible that Apple delivers audio to Sonos differently than it does to their own app, airplay, etc.

As an example, Apple just fixed a bug on their Apple TV, where the symptom was a popping noise on Sonos soundbars

It happens with Amazon Music Unlimited as well.  If it was Apple only Chris from Audiophile Style would have the same “bump” when playing the same piece I used for my test.  His video demonstration played perfectly gapless. Don’t recall what system he was using.  Another friend of mine set up a non-Sonos Atmos system that I was able to play with.  He also had no gapless glitches.  He was also using Apple Music.

The Mason Bates piece mentioned in the first post cannot be used to test Amazon as it is not Atmos.  You can use any Atmos version of Stravinsky: The Rite of Spring.  The transition from track 2 to track 3 demonstrates the “bump” very well.
