… think it’s a bit insulting to receive emails from Sonos, offering discounts/credit for new kit?

I, for one, feel I am not inclined to give them any more money until they’ve restored all the missing features I used to enjoy and I have confidence they’re not going to make life so hard in the future.

Yup 100%. I have a mail filter: Sonos.com>Trash. Or less aggressive filter no-reply@con.sonos.com which is where most (all?) marketing emails come from. 
 

Gonna be a long time if ever I spend more money on Sonos hardware.
