I REEEAAALLLYYY want the volume panel that pops up from the bottom of the app to STAY UP until it’s dismissed by the user. Or at least have a longer timer.
- I have multiple speakers in one room that each need to be at a different volume level for the middle of the room to feel balanced (I use the room in different ways so I’m often adjusting). Just as I’ve tuned in to which adjustments I want to make, the panel drops down. Tapping on the volume slider again and then finding the speaker I need can sometimes cause me to forget what the adjustment was bc my brain switched gears. I repeat the process over again with more focus and speed. This causes an unnecessary and negative emotional response every single time I need to adjust my system— from mild annoyance to momentary rage (if I’m being honest). I don’t want to feel a sense of urgency changing the volume of my speakers
. Sometimes I adjust them manually and walk around more.
- Having the short timer on the volume panel being up is also not accessible for people that don’t have quick motor skills.
- When things are designed in a way that really doesn’t work for me I like to imagine who it could work for. It helps me keep an appreciation while also recognizing there’s nothing “wrong” with me, it was made for a different group of people. In this case, I cannot find a compelling benefit to completing the action of dropping the volume panel for the user.
- I’ve asked several friends about this. The volume panel with all product’s individual volume sliders shown seems to be mostly used for:
-I like what I’m listening to but need to adjust volume in a specific way
-I need to mute a specific speaker, not the full system
There’s rarely a need to return back to whatever screen is under the volume panel.
thanks for considering this!
