update to macOS Tahoe

Since the update to macOS Tahoe I have been unable to connect to the Mac Sonos app. I have re-installed the app but that has made no difference. I spoke with an agent on  Sonos chat and he said as the update had only just happened that might be the reason. I thought that’s why Apple released beta versions  so cos could sort out any problems prior to the general release. It’s working fine on my iphone that was updated at the same time

Probably the local network permissions under the privacy settings. They tend to get reset after macOS updates. This time after the update to Tahoe I had to grant them again for the Spotify app.

BOOM...that was exactly the problem...thank you so much :-)

Upgraded to Tahoe 26.1 and it’s back again. Tried all of the above and it doesn’t work. Funny thing is though there are two Sonos instances in Firewall (two Spotify too, but at least it works!)

OK, update fixed now. Rebooted again, started Sonos app and got a prompt about allowing the app to find local devices on the network, select yes and we’re back in business

It’s always the “local network” permission. If only the app actually checked for that specific issue and put up a specific error. Oh wait, my Mac app does that :-)

This was happening to me as well, and I had everything set fine according to  (e.g. Firewall is turned off - https://support.sonos.com/en-us/article/configuring-macos-firewall).

What fixed it was Settings / Privacy & Security / Local Network. Sonos was already turned on - I toggled it off and then back on again, and the app was able to connect.

I seem to remember doing this a few months ago with Sequoia as well.

Thankfully I can always access via my phone or iPad, plus via the web at https://play.sonos.com/en-us/web-app - but it’s nice to have the local Mac app working again.

Thank you! This is the fix for me :-)

Make sure that UPnP is turned on in mobile apps.

UPnP: This pertains to integrations that utilize the unsupported UPnP protocol. Note that turning this setting off will also prevent the Sonos app for macOS and Windows from controlling your system.

I just had a similar problem updating to MacOS Tahoe 26.1. Sonos 1 was denied access to the music library on my Mac Studio. I tried all of the suggestions (on / off local network,off/ on firewall, reinstall Sonos) and none worked. I then tried deleting my music library and re-installing it with Sonos. THIS WORKED! However, it was a pain in the …. because I have a large library and it took about 16 hours.

First of all….it’s called System Settings now...not system preferences

Second of all...Privacy and security

Third of all...there is NO lock icon in General tab

Try again please...Thanks!

I too am struggling…. new M4, and Tahoe...

I just went into System Settings..etc... and toggled off/on the Sonos tab….It works now….go figure...

this helped - not entirely sure what I did in the end.
