New SONOS iOS app (May 2024) is TOTAL RUBBISH!!

The New Sonos iOS app is absolutely terrible. If you haven’t upgraded yet please please don’t. There are so many missing features and bugs to boot. It looks like an pre-Alpha version of software rushed to market without being properly tested or checked.
PLEASE PLEASE  PLEASE Sonos bring back the S2 app for download on the App Store. If I could downgrade I would do it in a heartbeat. I’m a long time user and fan of Sonos products but frankly this is a big miss a disaster. This new app is almost unusable. This is Sonos’s Windows Vista moment.
Please listen to your users Sonos, negative feedback is everywhere now. Please give us back the S2 app whilst this one goes back to the drawing board or perhaps the trash can.

I’ve given this new app time now but Jesus it’s bad, at first I just wanted the features ‘add to queue’ and ‘play next’ back because everything else seemed to work ok but now I’m all on to get anything to play at all, turning volume up or down is impossible so is actually stopping a track, tbh I can’t really do anything.
Everyone will say it’s my broadband, etc but if I use it through the Spotify app that works fine so that is what I do.
I’ve had my Sonos set up for about 10 years which has worked perfectly for the first 8 years maybe but absolute rubbish for the last 2 years and since this app to frustrating to use.

I will never buy another Sonos product again until I can actually get my existing products to work as they should.
Granted some of my kit is not the newest but I’m certainly not confident enough to start replacing it with new Sonos products.
I used to love my set up and have talked many friends into buying Sonos because of how good my set up was but I’m out.
I’m not even asking for any advice because I’ve literally given up with it and can’t afford to waste any more precious time just to try and play a track and turn it up or down.
Cracking community that’s helped me out over the years but shocking user experience now.

From my own experience it was the older devices (in my case the Connect:Amps )that were slow and laggy with the volume slider, plus they were having dropouts, which were an issue even before the new app.   None of the newer devices had these issues, so I have been gradually replacing the old Connects with the new amps and I really haven’t had any issues with the new app at all.

i appreciate this isn’t an option for everybody.  However I do see many posts with people having issues with Play:3s, Play1s and other older gear that in IT terms is a world away from the newer stuff, and I think that Sonos perhaps should have perhaps let these older devices live on with the older S1 / S2 only.  I think they are collapsing under the weight of the newer firmware and the demands of the new app.

Fair comment. IMO the problem with them dropping the older equipment is some of this was sold less than 5 years ago (gen 2 connects/amps). Splitting the system again seems like a non starter. Rock and hard place it seems.

I do appreciate that but the decline of these products makes me so worried about replacing them to find still having issues.
If I was 100% confident that all my problems would be solved I think I would slowly start replacing them.

If Sonos raised the upgrade value and guaranteed everything worked I’d give it a go but I’ll just get by through the Spotify/BBC sounds apps for now.

@Wrightytyke if you are in the UK, then check out Richersounds — they offer trade-in prices on many of the Sonos items that are more favourable than Sonos’s own deal.  Plus they offer a 6yr guarantee and items are easier to return if you change your mind.  I have used RicherSounds for all of my Sonos purchases recently.  I don’t know why this deal isn’t better known.

Just returned to the UK from a five week trip to Europe and was expecting most problems with this useless new app to have been sorted. But unfortunately it’s as bad as ever!  Just can’t get it to play the same thing on half of my speakers. It says it’s playing !  But no sound comes out of half of them and the volume control is so clunky I’m afraid to use it - eventually it gets up to full volume but then I can’t reduce it - the neighbours love it!
Oh Sonos !  What an earth have you done?
I just bin every marketing email from Sonos as soon as it arrives. Never buy Sonos again.

Simply appalling control. What have you done Sonos? Your customers deserve better. Please revert to S2 until you fix this rubbish.

Agreed - they should have rolled back rather than trash the legacy app.
