I updated my SONOS App on Wednesday.  It had obliterate my library.

Here is the version I am running.

Sonos OS: S2

Version: 17.2.6 (build 86878270)

I have tried re-adding and now get permission errors.  I had this same issue on February and spent hours on phone with SONOS support.  I ended up resolving issue on my own.

I ma not having any luck this time.

Has anyone else experienced issues and what is resolution to correct permissions.  I have checked permissions and administrator, and everyone to set to Read/Write.  Sonos is added under Local Network with full disk access.

There is a new update today (Thurs). Try it again and see if it helps.

When I created my library share, what seems like a century ago, I had to use the third option.  This was on Windows.  Not sure if it's similar on MAC.

Yes, when adding the Music Library on a Mac, you must also select, per the instructions on adding the music share I pointed to, “3. Select Networked device (ex. NAS drive)”. I believe it’s been that way since the May ‘24 update where SMBv2 or SMBv3 file sharing became the only supported method for the Music Library.

From May 2024 release notes:

Alerts:

  • Sonos systems no longer support local library shares that use SMBv1 / HTTP. If your library was shared with Sonos using one of these older protocols, you can add it back to Sonos by manually sharing your music folder using SMBv2 or SMBv3, then adding it back to your system using the Sonos app for macOS or Windows.

There isn’t much I can speak confidently about here but, as it pertains to my Sonos experience using our Mac environment since 2014, I’ve ALWAYS used option #2 when adding a music library.  And, instead of typing in a network path (\\ipaddress\foldername), I’ve selected “Browse” and then navigated to the folder that contains my Sonos library and selected that. It’s taken care of the rest… until this past Thursday when I clicked on “update” in the mobile app. Also, SMB has never been an issue. It was a combination of my old OS not automatically converting my network path to this format: \\ipaddress… etc.  My wife’s newer iMac with much newer OS handled it seamlessly.

It’s been the third option for years.  What drives me nuts is why there are still three options shown.
