I updated my SONOS App on Wednesday.  It had obliterate my library.

Here is the version I am running.

Sonos OS: S2

Version: 17.2.6 (build 86878270)

I have tried re-adding and now get permission errors.  I had this same issue on February and spent hours on phone with SONOS support.  I ended up resolving issue on my own.

I ma not having any luck this time.

Has anyone else experienced issues and what is resolution to correct permissions.  I have checked permissions and administrator, and everyone to set to Read/Write.  Sonos is added under Local Network with full disk access.

There is a new update today (Thurs). Try it again and see if it helps.

I just updated the app on my phone and, on my office computer. After updating my office, I reopened Sonos and… no access to my library. Denied. I restarted everything, checked all permissions. Denied. I have PTSD at this point. The last time I called Sonos prior to the CEO being canned, the Support Tech checked my entire system and ended with “It’s the app.” Yes, it’s the app. Not happy.

Access to, and scanning of the library are two wildly different functions.

I’m sorry you have PTSD at this point.

Well, I just attempted to scan my library (refresh) but met the prompt that it didn’t exist.  I then went to the Music Library Settings in the app, removed the music folder and then, when attempting to move it back in, got this error.

This…

Error 913 when adding a music library share

Have you followed this? S2 uses an SMB file share for the Music Library.

Share your macOS music folder with Sonos

Add your music library to Sonos

Well, the deal is… it worked perfectly before I updated the app thus, my PTSD. My OS on my iMac supports the SMB protocols necessary. I learned that on the last go ‘round with this. Everything since the update is an attempt to get the update to recognize my existing library on the same drive as it has always been. That’s why I deleted it and tried adding it back in to no avail. All Sharing is enabled, in Prference and for the music folder. Then, I attempted to install the older S2 app and as soon as went to open it, it went right to “there’s an update available.” Couldn’t get past that screen.

You may have better luck with Sonos Support these days. Try submitting a diagnostic (Submit Diagnostics) within 10 minutes of getting the error. Then call Sonos Support (Sonos Support) to discuss it. They may be able to see what’s going on since they have access to information about your network and sonos system that no one here has. Don’t post the diagnostic number here, though.

Does anyone know the System Requirements (for a Mac) for this most recent app update? For example the oldest OS that it supports? My old OS on this iMac may have aged out.

I’m still using 10.14.6 on that iMac so, it should’ve worked.

I thought I’d post the results of my call this morning to Sonos Support in the event that someone else runs into my unique situation.

Although the Sonos Desktop Controller supports Mac OS 10.12 or higher, it no longer (in my specific case anyway) utilizes the “Browse” tab to add Music Libraries.  Apparently, once I updated to the latest Sonos 27 mobile app then, the desktop controller on my old iMac housing said missing library, it no longer recognized the existing path that it once had. My wife’s computer on the other hand is only 3 years old and running a relatively new Mac OS.  It wasn’t affected at all.  (I still use an old OS so I don’t have to pay Adobe a subscription for software I already paid good money for.)

Note: all of my SMB, sharing prefs...etc. were in order.

Bottom line: It would have been good to know there was an alteration for niche users like myself but, I “kinda” get it.  Upon reading the release notes on Sonos 27, i saw that it was supporting the Ace headphones and, I think, the Beam Ultra.  Those stinkin’ headphones striked again circa May 2024.

Thanks to all who chimed in.  I hope my reply helps a few people.
