Question

BBC Sounds / ‘continue listening’

Since the app update the ‘continue listening’ section within the BBC Sounds music service doesn’t work - whenever a title is selected it just starts from the beginning.
Is this likely to be fixed anytime soon, because it’s really annoying?

Hi @Corry P, any developments with this at all?

Hi @Simon_140

I am unable to see progress - I only know if it is resolved or not, and it has not yet been resolved.

Hi there

I appreciate that you can’t see progress, but…is this likely to be resolved?

Hi @Simon_140

Yes - I think it is likely to be resolved, especially as it is a disparity between the Android and iOS apps. However, there’s literally only 2 people on the planet reporting this issue (both of you here), so I have to assume that the priority is currently rather low. I realise this doesn’t really help you, but it’s the economics of bug-fixing, I suppose.

I see you have a Move 2 - you could link your phone to this with Bluetooth (or to it or a few of your other speakers with AirPlay) and play to it (them) using the BBC Sounds app to browse your content, grouping in other rooms as needed with a command to Sonos Voice Control, by holding the play button on a speaker for one second, or by switching back to the Sonos app.

I hope this helps.

Hi @Corry P

Thanks for responding.
I understand, sort of, but for me and I’m sure for many others it’s a function that worked before and doesn’t now.
I know that I can Bluetooth or AirPlay to the Move but then I’m reliant on my phone so that’s not ideal as a solution.

What’s frustrating is that the data is there - I know that because if I start an ep from within the ‘Subscribed’ section under BBC Sounds, where there’s a list of eps, it will play from where I left off, but for some reason it doesn’t if I play it under ‘Continue Listening’; so that’s what I’ve been doing.

I’ll just keep trying after each update, I guess.

cheers

Simon

I’m having a similar issue - there is a weekly show that I listen to each week on BBC Sounds. This morning I tried to listen to the most recent episode, but it won’t allow me - instead it picks up where the previous episode was left. I don’t want to listen to the previous episode I want to listen to the latest one.

There were two main features I used to use my Sonos system for - BBC Sounds and Mixcloud.

With no fix for the Mixcloud issues I raised here and BBC Sounds no longer working as I would expect, then it appears my system is pretty much redundant. Time to sell up I think .
