Why is Sonos ignoring last fm integration?

It’s disappointing that after all this time, Sonos still hasn’t reinstated Last.fm integration, despite clear demand from dedicated users. Last.fm is a crucial tool for heavy music listeners and audiophiles who want to track their listening habits and discover new music. Given that Last.fm itself provides step-by-step integration guides, it’s hard to understand why Sonos has not taken the small steps needed to bring this feature back.

Even more frustrating is the lack of clear communication from Sonos. The responses from community managers have been vague at best, and at worst, dismissive. There has been no real effort to investigate the issue or provide a concrete explanation as to why this hasn’t been implemented.

At this point, Sonos needs to either:

  1. Clearly state whether they will bring back Last.fm integration, or
  2. Provide a legitimate technical or business reason why they refuse to do so.

The current silence and deflection are simply unacceptable for a company that prides itself on being a leader in high-quality audio experiences. If Sonos truly values its most dedicated listeners, it’s time to address this issue properly.

Hello @SoalsAmbient, welcome to the Sonos Community!

There is nothing new to share in regards to Last.fm being added back to Sonos, the content service has been discontinued since July 2024.

We appreciate the feedback and feature request but at this point we have no plans on bringing back the integration and together with Last.fm ,the music service provider, we have decided not to continue the collaboration.

Thank you for the post.

I appreciate the response, but I’d like to clarify that Last.fm is not a content service - It’s a music tracking service that logs listening habits across different platforms. It doesn’t provide music but simply records what users play.

Once again, there’s no explanation as to why this integration is being discontinued. Many users rely on Last.fm to track their listening across various services, and Sonos removing this functionality without a clear reason is disappointing. Can you provide any insight into why this decision was made?
