I have received multiple emails over the past couple of weeks regarding app improvements related to queue management features. Yet, when I look at a queue I cannot re-order anything. When I click the dots next to a song in my local library or hold down on a selection, I cannot add it to end of queue nor can I add it to be played next. Where are the supposed queue management updates in these new app updates?

note: using iOS and iPadOS 18

When you tap on the three dots you should get options as shown here

When you open the queue you can re order tracks by grabbing (tap and hold) the three lines beside a track and drag it.

What type of Sonos speaker are you using at the time?

Has there been a recent update that allows one to remove a track from a queue, as was possible before the great upheaval last May? Is there an update that permits a user to edit a Sonos playlist and resave it?

I think the last update I know about was late August; it did not restore those functions. It also did not cure one new annoyance… if you go from display of the track being played back to the queue track list, it always returns to the top of the list, which is a real pain if the list is a few hundred tracks long.

I have autoupdate turned off; perhaps I missed a more recent update that addresses these issues?

Yes, left swipe on the track. iOS version 80.09.08.

Yeah I don’t see any of those options. I am using a Sonos Connect, Sonos 1s, Symfonisks, a Play 3 --everything is S2 compatible. Running latest app versions on brand new iPhone and brand new iPads.

I don’t even see the three bars on tracks to reorder:

Here is what my queue looks like playing from my own library:

And here is when I go to another album not playing and tap the three dots of a song:

@almazri So, it looks like my app is missing these options:

  • Reorder Tracks
  • Play Now
  • Play Next
  • Add to end of queue

It really makes playing music tracks quite painful. All I can due is replace the queue, or start playing an album starting with the selected track. . . Basically, I cannot setup arbitrary queues at all. What a mess this has been for months. I know SONOS is committed to restoring our faith and addressing this, but even when they say they did, the features are not there. So sad.

On a lark, I decided to completely delete my app from my phone. Reloaded from the app store and found my SONOS system again, granted permissions etc. Logged into SONOS. Tried again--no luck. The app is missing queue management features! I don’t know what else I can do.

OK, so this is fixed, but it was a bit convoluted:

I started a web chat with SONOS support yesterday. Went through several details and tried the MacOS Desktop app which DOES have the queue management features. Mobile apps however. . . he told me that I needed to call into support via phone/voice to go further, shared my support case number to use.

Today, I called the support line and spoke with a very helpful support person. She had me do several steps including restarting the app, resetting the app, she remotely rebooted all of my SONOS devices, then we restarted both iPhone and iPad, deleted and reinstalled the apps. . . All of this with no help. Yet, she confirmed that these queue management features ARE AVAILABLE IN iOS RIGHT NOW! They just don’t show up for me for some reason. That is to say, I should be seeing these features but I don’t. After stepping away to consult with a second level tech and returning with more ideas to try, this is what solved it:

  1. She remotely restarted all of my SONOS devices again.
  2. She had me reboot my router.
  3. Closed and restarted the SONOS app (iPad this time).

After these steps, the queue features are there! I see the three bars on each queue item and can now reorder. I see that additional options when I tap the “...” on a song in my library and I can Play Now, Next, Add to end of queue. Tested. It all works great.

Tried from my iPhone now and the queue features were missing, but closing the app out (really killing it from memory) and re-launching and viola--I have queue management features again.

It seems that the step that made this work was the router reboot and their diagnostic SONOS device reboot. I am not sure if there was some other unlock she did remotely that she was not able to share or what, but I am good to go now.

I know there are other pending threads in the community here with this same issue. I may post an update to one of them, as my case is proof that these features are there, they do work and you CAN get them to appear in iOS/iPadOS.

Keep in mind though if you have a soundbar connected to a TV and the TV is on, your queue management options are limited.

I can't seem to find the “queue” at all in the app?

The app tour doesn't help with this topic.

I'm using an Android phone.

For me, I have to start and play my music from the music app, then cast it to the Sonos app.  I know this isn't how the system is designed to work...but it's the only way I can assign music to the Sonos system.
