Just a warning to anyone who hasn’t upgraded their IPAD to the latest Sonos App (80.20.34) yet

be aware that having updated mine it is now stuck in the “setup loop” issue where it prompts for me to go through setup EVERY time I launch the App.

To debug I deleted the App and Re-installed it   but that has made no difference.

Diagnostics submitted but no solution from Sonos support just yet.

To get the diagnostic looked at you must contact support.

They really need to make that part of the diagnostic # screen, if it isn't now.

Yes, already contacted support and submitted additional info.

It’s odd. I updated my iPad this morning with no issues at all, and have used the controller several times.

Hmmm. Just double checked, I’m now running 80.20.35 on this iPad I’m typing on, with no issues. My other (not yet updated) iPad running version 80.20.34 is also running without issues. If memory serves, the ‘.34 version was released last week, although I suppose I could check release notes.

Updated to 80.20.35 now and I am still suffering from the prompt to go through setup every time I launch the app.

Then I’d certainly do three things.

First, I’d try a reboot of my router and my Sonos devices, by unplugging them from the wall for two minutes each, which will force them to freshly load their respective OS.

Second, I’d try a ‘transfer’ of my account from the current email to the same email, using the instructions listed in the manage your account FAQ, which might reset any potential issue that there might be in the Sonos DB.

Third, I’d call Sonos Support directly to discuss it. They’re much more likely to be able to see any specific issue with your system than any of us simply reading your posts.

When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Are you using a BETA version of iPadOS? Sometimes a non official OS can cause issues. I am using 80.20.35 without issues. It's actually snappier now.

Can you post a screenshot so we can see exactly what is going on here? Meanwhile, try SonoPad, I’m sure your system is fine even if the app is confused.

I am presented with this screen every time I launch the iPadOS (17.7.7). Version of the Sonos app. V 80.20.35

Nope,  per above, latest iPadOS for my iPad is 17.7.7.

UPDATE..

i now see multiple reports of various apps losing their settings after installing apple iPadOS 17.7.7

at present the volume of reports makes it look like iPadOS is the culprit.

Odd, my iPad is on 18.5. As I recall, I updated it on Monday.

When presented with that screen, I’d suggest you choose ‘Join existing system’ , since you previously set up your system. Choosing anything else would attempt to create a new system. But not sure why you would be presented with that each time, which is why that call to Sonos Support I suggested is so important.

It’s a confirmed issue with ipados17.7.7 affecting multiple apps where settings and configurations are lost / not being saved and it’s reported that apple have taken the rare step of withdrawing the OS so others users can’t update to it.

i won’t waste Sonos support time until apple says their issue is fixed with 17.7.7.1 or 17.7.8 or whatever they are going to call it.

Which version of the iPad do you have that requires such an ‘old’ version of iPadOS?

Which version of the iPad do you have that requires such an ‘old’ version of iPadOS?

It’s the 2019 version, it doesn’t accept iPadOS v18

Fascinating, thanks for the data.  I did note that Apple released a new version, 17.7.8 the other day, with supposed ‘fixes’, have you tried that? Not knowing exactly what was causing your issue, I can’t guarantee anything.

17.7.8 appeared as an update for me this morning, I installed it and it has resolved the issue.

Interesting. Thanks for updating the thread.
