why can’t sonos keep various artist albums in one folder under compilations like it use to. every compilations album is now split into single songs.

Hello @Hastie, welcome to the Sonos Community!

Please have a look at our Community article below for additional information in regards to the recent change of how compilation albums are being displayed in your Music Library:

It also includes information on what you need to do, in order to show Compilation Albums as they were before the change.

I hope this helps.

Hi @Sotiris C. I’ve just read your article on album artists, I have this in the field album artist but some albums are still showing individual artists entries rather than being group as one album. I’m not sure if I’m missing something but I’ve tried everything. Any suggestions would be appreciated. See image below, note first 3 are the same artist so showing one album, the 4th album is a compilation and has various artists in the album artist field, this used to show correctly?

Interestingly some compilations are showing correctly?  Thanks in advance.

Be aware that your guide in the link above does not mention that you must re index the music library in order for the changes to take effect.

depending on how you use your NAS you may also have to re index your media server library on your NAS.

it also makes no mention of the impact on “artist lists” if you do proceed with the various artists tag change. I.e. that the artists within the compilation albums will no longer appear in the artist list.  They also disappear from search on the pc version of the app.

Thank you for the info, I’m pretty sure I had re indexed both the nas and app, anyway I’ll try it again.

I guess as the meta data (various artists) was already in the album artist field from when it was viewing correctly I don’t see how it should change. Anyway I’ll try this again.
