Until recently my music folder was fully accessible, but now I have no access to the folder unless I switch off the Private network Firewall.

This seems to have happen following a controller update.

The Sonos Desktop controller and Library service have both been allowed in the firewall settings, but unless the firewall is switched off the library is unavailable.

I have restored the Firewall to default settings and let the Sonos controller request the  changes it wants but that has not helped.

What other actions are required to enable the controller to see the library which is in the music folder on the same PC.

Sonos is no longer a friendly system to use. I really shouldn’t need a degree in computing to be able to use Sonos products.

Any help would be welcome

Hi @Mark.B, welcome to the Sonos Community!

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues getting your Music Library working with your Sonos system.

Error 1002 can be caused by a few different issues, but since you mention in your post that your music library only works if your firewall is disabled, that’s likely what’s causing issues. The first step I would suggest is to check that your firewall or network profile type is set to either private, home, or trusted on your computer. Sometimes the Firewall is set to public, which can prevent Sonos from connecting correctly.

If your network is set to one of those, then check out our support article on how to Configure your firewall to work with Sonos. It has steps for both Windows and Mac, as well as some other security applications on how to allow Sonos through the firewall or application.

If you’re still having trouble after following the steps above, then I’d recommend contacting our support team. They have the necessary tools available to look into your system to see what’s going wrong and can guide you through the settings you need to adjust.

I hope this helps!

Hi

Followed the article through, ensuring that the network profile was correct and that both the Sonos controller and the library service were allowed in the firewall .

unfortunately nothing worked.

This seems to be my experience with Sonos, they produce updates to software that isn’t properly tested.

The ordinary person should be able to buy and use Sonos equipment without needing to study IT security.

So contacted Sonos through their chat box, thinking that they would open a remote session and assist. No

After  waiting in line, I get told that I have to contact them by phone.

So sick of Sonos

Bonjour,

Hello,

I'm facing the same problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Sonos S1 app on a Windows 10 PC and I still couldn't access my library, which had been automatically created or retrieved during installation.

I deleted and recreated this library, and it works.

I still need to try configuring a library on a NAS.

PS: The directory corresponding to the library is "shared" and the firewall is configured for Sonos.
