My MacBook needs to be open before i can play my music. I am selling my MacBook. is it possible to transfer everything (including my music library) to my iPad.

No. Apple removed the ability to play from an iDevice a few years back. You could move the library to an NAS, or a thumb drive attached to your router’s USB port if it is so equipped.
You could maybe use Airplay to play to your Ray. The Play 1 could be grouped with the Ray.
