Good morning, the new app doesn’t work on my device, a realme X2 Pro (Snapdragon 855 Plus + 12GB RAM + 256GB). The new app is not working. It simply won't start. Here are some pictures:

  1. It stays on the logo screen for minutes and minutes, then it just goes to a black screen. As you can see, it keeps trying to start, but it never does.

I've tried clearing the cache, uninstalling and reinstalling, etc., but always the same result. It won't start.

What can I do? I'm left without Sonos (I have two Sonos Play 1 and a Sonos Play 5 (Gen 2)).

There’s no forced download can you imagine Apple allowing anyone access to their system to force updates I don’t think so

i am on 16.1 on my iPhone and have disabled update for Sonos app and firmware the only way I am getting updates if I forget and click update all so no such thing as a forced update 


Ok.  The bottom line is I have a new Sonos app on my phone (black not brown) and ever since that the system does not work.  constantly getting message saying it cannot connect  


Please, I ask that my post not be used to bring up other unrelated issues, as this diverts focus from the main problem, which is about Android 11, COLOROS, etc... I urge you to create other posts for different issues so we can keep the main discussion on track. Thank you for your understanding.


Sorry Bud. I found this thread by typing “app not working“ it didn’t distinguish between an iPhone and android.  Looks like not even Sonos’ group chats work


Why can’t you just let me use the old app. It worked.  The current app does not.  It is slow, frequently won’t load content or fails to performs tasks such as setting a timer or adding a song to the queue when requested.

 

I understand mistakes happen but not allowing users to just revert to what worked seems stubborn and is only further frustrating everyone.  Count me as one of your many VERY unsatisfied customer.

They aren’t going to revert to the old app for the very same reason the new app was released in the condition it is.  The new app supports the headphones, the old app doesn’t, and the headphones had to be released in order to hit their end of fiscal year sales predictions.


We have the same problem since some months with a Motorola Moto G 5G Plus. Don't know the Android version, but all other phones are working with the Sonos app. Very disturbing.

Cannot add new speaker to my system. When attempting to I get an app update required. Hit the button and I get an open message , hit that button, t takes me back to system page and the sequence is repeated. Still not able yo add the new speaker. Will return and not buy and further devices. Very frustrated. 


I am very angry and upset; not only has my problem not been solved, but now Sonos is forcing the app to be updated. I managed to get it working using an old version of the app, but since yesterday it tells me I must update it. It is outrageous; I have worked in a digital company (banking) for 5 years and the appreciation and respect we have for our customers in no way resemble the disdain Sonos shows us by having an app that doesn't work and doesn't solve anything. What am I supposed to do with my devices? I have 3 Sonos speakers serving as paperweights. What should I do? Damn it.

My app also takes more than two minutes to start. The screen shows Sonos at start-up and after about two minutes I am on the app interface. Then I can use the app. I have a Xiaomi with the MIUI version MIUI-Global 12.5.1 (Android version 11 RKQI.200826.002). Since the error is now obviously known, I hope that it will be fixed soon.

To the Sonos team: Is the problem still being worked on and is there a target date? I would be very happy to receive an answer. Unfortunately, your products are hardly usable like this!

The ticket for the issue is still open, so it will still be getting worked on, yes, though I have no progress information to share.

It still doesn't work.  It's awful.  AVOID Sonos at all costs.  Expensive rubbish now.  Thanks Sonos for making my expensive equipment useless.  Your company should fold you are so bad.

I'm so fed up with this nonsense... for all the same reasons that every single other Sonos user is.  Reading through this thread, i'd like to try the APK download BUT can you first tell me how to turn off auto updates? 

Further, is it possible to roll back to the S1 controller without factory resetting and losing all content (playlists)??

Ugh i think this worked! Oh man if this works and my wife can use this system again after a 1 year of it not, I owe you a case a beer or a bottle! Turned off the 5G via router app, update app and working on iPhone 11 promax(it’s paid for & not upgrading) and iPad all running 18.01. Apple is back loaded. I’m f****** giddy!!

It worked and then didn’t. I hate this company, they ruined a great business 


And six months later it still doesn’t work. I had to reinstall my One SL for the nth time. The app still only recognizes the beam and the sub, no longer the other ones. I did, again, the factory reset to not avail. What is the best alternative for Sonos? I am going to give them away for free, if I find a take. I dumped my stocks well. This is the worst tech product I ever encountered. 


This system has now become a wasted pile of money! Can’t understand how you mess up this up? I can’t stand SONOS! Had this system for years with zero issues. We entertain a lot and loved the music playing in different rooms. This company is going in wrong direction and I’m stuck with over $5k of bricks! Damn this corporate greed that has ruined its name. Fire everyone starting with CEO, CFO, CTO and down! Hate SONOS!


After a few weeks almost working properly the latest auto update has totally shafted Sonos again. Drops out randomly, no sound at all even when showing playing. “Hi, I work for Sonos” says no-one at a dinner party anywhere these days. Seriously, you tech bros deserve everything that’s coming for you.
