When is someone stepping up from both Tidal & Sonos and acknowledge the problem and put up a timetable?
Reluctantly transferring back my music library to Spotify.
And as I stated earlier Tidal works fine with S1 and old Sonos products.
Getting tired of this BS
Tidal has broken all together for me on Sonos now, but it’s always been pretty bad and I don’t know why neither Sonos nor Tidal has done something to address this.
I have a Sonos 5, and for the year I’ve owned it, I think I’ve spent just as much time frustrated with it as I have enjoying it. The speaker is in my home office that I use daily, but I would say 40-60% of the time Tidal will not connect to the speaker no matter how I try to connect.
Through the tidal app, I can see the 5 listed as an available speaker, but when I select it, it will connect for a millisecond and then disconnect, or will perpetually spin trying to connect. Or sometimes it will connect, but when I hit play on music, it will just spin forever and also glitch Tidal out. But when it does work, it's perfectly fine.
Playing Tidal through the Sonos app used to be a bit more reliable, but now even that doesn't seem to work more often than not. Sonos Radio works fine of course, and the speaker always shows a strong internet connection in the Sonos app.
I have tried re-authorizing and deleting and re-adding Tidal in the Sonos app, I have tried hard and soft resetting everything, I have made sure everything is updated and the caches for both Sonos and Tidal apps are cleared, I unplugged the 5 for a minute and plugged it back in, reconfigured the wifi in the Sonos app, held the pairing button to reset the 5, gone through several different phones and devices, re-installed both apps, and nothing reliably works - the issue always returns.
It seems to be getting worse, as for three days straight now I haven't been able to get Tidal to play anything on my Sonos speaker.
Tidal isn’t really sure what to say - they acknowledge there is an issue but say it’s on Sonos’ side to fix.
For the life of me I can’t think of why they would include a line-in fallback connection but not Bluetooth on a speaker in this day and age. Right now it’s a 500$ brick on my desk.
Any update? Still not working
I think I found a work around.
As people mentioned the Tidal personal playlists show up on the Web App and then that playlist shows up on the mobile App recently played. So using that:
- use the Web App to play any song from the playlist.
- Then use the Mobile App. The playlist should show up on the recently played section.
- Then only on The MOBLE APP tap on the playlist on the recently played and the list should be all visible as it would on Tidal.
- Tap the 3 dots … on the top section of the playlist selected and add it to Sonos Favorites.
- The list will then show up in the Sonos favorites section.
you need to do that with every playlist.
Hi, Many thanks for this. My Tidal playlists on Sonos are working fine from my laptop. Not ideal, as I’d like to use my phone. Would be wonderful if Sonos could take a look at this issue, perhaps even talk to Tidal.
Why is this marked as ‘answered’?
Nothing is answered, it still doesn't work.
Having a Sonos system is increasingly getting more frustrating. I feel like this year so far I had more days where something did NOT work than days where everything was fine.
OK, this is a little strange. I’m able to play Tidal “Playlists” from my laptop using the Tidal website. When I open the Sonos app on my phone it’s showing the playlist happily playing within the app. Just tried stopping the track and playing it agin on my phone, it stopped but wouldn’t start again. Come on Sonos sort out this problem!
I can now start a playlist from the Tidal app and cast it via Bluetooth to my Sonos speakers. When prompted to control the speakers as a group, I’m able to adjust the volume through the Sonos app and see the currently playing track in Tidal on the Sonos app. This functionality is new for me, as it was not available a few days ago.
I can play tidal playlists from my mac book but not from mobile app on phone/ipad. The Bluetooth method works but obviously degraded quality. Please fix the mobile app, it used to work fine until a Sonos upgrade a few weeks back
Hi everyone...so let's summarize....
1/ I started the thread on 1.11.25 - today is 17.11.25 and no progress
2/ Tidal playlists still can't be played from the Sonos app (iOS + Android)
3/ Tidal Connect also doesn't work (iOS + Android)
4/ contacted Tidal technical support with the answer that the error is on the Sonos side
5/ same answer from Sonos - contacted Tim S. from support - the error is on Tidal (answers above)
6/ everything worked until 31.10.25, the problem occurred after updating the Sonos app
7/ in the meantime, updated the Tidal app 2x - the problem persists
8/ I don't recognize the solution using bluetooth - worse sound quality
9/ the only solution is to launch Tidal playlists via the web app, the app on the PC or add your playlists to favorites - then you can play them
10/ interestingly, the alternative Sonify app (iOS) doesn't have these problems and Tidal playlists are normally visible and can be played.
I think the fault is again with the Sonos app, which wouldn't be the first time....
We'll see how Sonos and Tidal handle this...they're losing users and subscribers unnecessarily.
Having complained to Sonos, they eventually sent me an email directing me back to this thread calling it ‘best answer’. But it ISN’T an answer is it Sonos? Why should an update make the Sonos app no longer usable? Thank goodness for my trusty Windows 11 PC Sonos app, otherwise I would be subscribing to Tidal for nothing! Come on Sonos, take responsibility for fixing your app.
OK, as of 11:55 EST on 17 Nov 2025:
- I opened the Tidal App (without updating anything) on my Pixel 8 phone and selected streaming and it worked! Although, it did switch the bitrate indicator from 16-bit 44.1KHZ FLAC to just FLAC, and it allows me to toggle between HIGH and FLAC. (But, aren’t these all essentially the same bitrate?)
- Opened the Sonos app (without reinstalling) and it still does not let me see my Tidal playlists.
As long as #1 holds up, I don’t really need #2, because I like to avoid the Sonos app. I’d be interested to hear if other people are having the same experience. I wonder what changed?
Tidal Connect doesn't work for me (iOS + android).
Similar experience as GMSproffesor. Tidal connect works again😊 after about 4 days not working. Switched to play Tidal playlist on Sonos and it played. But switched back to Tidal App and it stopped. I really only want #1 fixed... hope this lasts.
Sorry forgot to mention.... using Pixel 6 and I didn't reboot anything... Tidal connect just started working again. Maybe "they" got big fixed? Thanks if that is the case.
Really interesting....it doesn't work on my Motorola Edge 50 Neo....
Hi, I was fairly happy yesterday, as I could play my Tidal Playlists from my laptop using the Tidal website. Can’t even do that today. Re-setup my speakers four times. Told it is working on the app. I can play Sonos mixes, but not my own playlists. Speakers not connecting to my laptop. Not happy. Would I recommend Sonos to friends? Great hardware and the sound quality is outstanding, but I feel let down their very poor software. So I think the answer is no, look somewhere else.
I still can't access my Tidal playlists through the Sonos app, but I can use the Tidal mixes and albums in my library.
Fortunately, I can select playlists using the Tidal app on my Samsung S25 and choose my Sonos speakers as the audio device to play them. When I do, there's no discernible drop in quality.
It's an acceptable option but I hope between them Sonos and Tidal can restore the former functionality in the Sonos app.
Hello, info from 11/18/25:
It is accurate to state that the issue affecting the Tidal music service remains unresolved; however, it is anticipated that the service will implement a solution in the near future.
Please note that your response has been sent to an automated email system that is triggered when a case is closed.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide further information beyond advising patience. Eventually, you will be able to access your collections again within the Sonos application.
With best regards,

Thanks for the update, Palco. As of now, I can still stream directly to my Sonos speakers (Play:5) from the Tidal app, but cannot see my Tidal playlists on the Sonos app. It’s good to know that Sonos is working on it, at least.
Still not working. Yes, I noted other posts relaying Sonos’ communications on this (“near future” is such a wonderfully vague term).
I was used to rolling with the constant Sonos glitches but this one hits close, as Tidal is my sole music streaming subscription and Tidal playlists are my primary way of organizing my listening, even outside my home Sonos system. I thought, at least they can’t bork THAT.
It works for me now (sonos app / android)
Update 10:15 PM
Tidal playlists in Sonos app - ok, they work
Tidal Connect - NOK, they don't work
Seems to be fixed for me now. Connecting to my Tidal playlists via Sonos app on Samsung S25 phone.
Happy days!
Thanks to everyone involved in sorting this out.
I am now able to play my Tidal playlists from my phone app (Samsung S24 Ultra, Android). For some reason I have only one speaker. I went through the setup sequence four times yesterday. I will try it again today.
