I’ve had my Sonos system for over ten years and it’s been a bumpy ride. Glitchy software has occasionally caused problems (and usually when I’d done nothing to change my system.)

Today, after updating my operating system, Sonos stopped working again. I’m on a Mac, and updated to OS 15.2.

Sonos wasn’t able to access my music. I did a chat with tech-support which took 20 minutes, and then was told that I needed to do a phone session with remote access to my computer. I then spent more than 2 hours on the phone with your tech support and the guy clearly was out of his depth. Kept moving windows around my desktop and it was obvious that he wasn’t familiar with Mac operating systems. Also, he kept doing the same thing and expecting different results.

He escalated the issue to the level two tech-support people and after another 20 minutes, came back and said that there is no fix. My Sonos system is useless until you update your software to be compatible with Apple’s current operating system. Sadly, he wouldn’t even commit to letting me know when that would happen and the responsibility is mine to keep coming back and checking the release notes page on your website.

As you can, imagine, I am beyond upset. Very disappointed in Sonos.

I had the same problem: goto system settings / privacy & security / local network

I had a Sonos entry there which was turned on.  It turned if off, exited the screen, then went back in and turned it back on.  Works now.  Good luck.

andyf852 you are my hero!  My MacOS controller (S1) has been unconnected from my network for weeks (while my iOS controllers worked fine) and I could not figure out why.  I tried all kinds of things to reconnect my Mac controller to the existing network.  Reinstalled the app, tried reconnecting using WiFi, tried connecting using an Ethernet cable…. nothing worked.  It never recognized any Sonos device.

Finally, I saw your post and went to:  System Settings / Privacy & Security / Local Network and found that “Sonos S1 Controller” was SWITCHED OFF.  I’m not sure how this happened as my Mac Controller was working fine for years.  Regardless, all I did was turn the switch ON, started up the App and… boom… it instantly connected to my existing S1 network without any additional messing around.  Problem solved.

Mac users:  If your Sonos S1 network works fine using the iOS app but doesn’t work on the Mac OS Controller, don’t bother trying to reconnect to the Sonos network or any of that stuff.  It won’t work.  Instead, close the Sonos S1 app, then on your Mac go to System Settings / Privacy & Security / Local Network and make sure Sonos is switched ON.  Once it’s switched on, relaunch the app and it immediately recognizes your network… at least it worked for me.
