before Sonos updated the app in May, the stability and functionality was great. Since this update there has been lots of issues and some of them have been fixed and some have not and we’ve also talked about them on here.

What is annoying is that all my album art that is stored on my local drive, is not showing from my NAS library and it used to work fine? It actailly works through Plex, but I prefer to use my own library, as I’ve got my own playlists that I’ve created over the years.

Assuming you are on Android, yes, local art hasn’t worked since May 7. It is allegedly fixed in yesterday’s app update, but my phone hasn’t picked it up yet to verify.

Yes I'm on Android and my phone hasn't picked this update up yet either....let's hope it's soon. Cheers

This is the IOS album art situation:

First screenshot:  A local library M3U playlist opened ready to play.

Second screenshot:  The Now Playing screenshot of that playlist when playing.

Third screenshot:  The queue while that playlist is playing.

Would like to see the large art placeholder have an array of the first four album covers in the playlist similar to what Spotify & most others do.

 This screen is OK.

With all local library tracks the album art is not shown in the queue.

Let's hope they fix it soon for Android/iOS soon, can't be difficult

Hello,

I too have the issue where my SONOS Android APP is failing to display ARTWORK on music played from my NAS DRIVE Library.

The SONOS Android APP does display Artwork for Spotify ;  BBC Sounds

Also,  Artwork from NAS Library files is correctly played in my SONOS Windows PC Controller.

It is (only) NAS Drive Files on the SONOS Android APP that are problematic for me.  A previous comment suggested this feature stopped working in May 2024 which seems about right to my recollection

NAS artwork is loaded via http, not https, and Android blocks http calls unless special steps are taken. Sonos have forgotten to take these steps in the v80 mobile app. Yes, broken since May 7.

So please Sonos can this be fixed ASAP

Listening now to a M3U playlist from my local library on a NAS.  Opened the Sonos app on my iPad to see the pretty album artwork.  Ain’t none.  Thank goodness for SonoPad.

Feature suggestion:

Once you get the album art from a local library fixed how about changing how it displays on the iPad.  It would look better if the large album art was on one side and the queue was on the other side.  Also maybe with the option to close the queue and just have the large album art showing with a plane background of a contrasting color.

The tablet version is just a lazy stretched version of the phone app. No thought whatsoever given to the extra real estate provided or the fact that you might use more than one speaker, or be interested in a queue.

Of course with all the fundamental broken stuff at launch, the useless UI has been largely forgotten about.

It’s not exactly a bed of roses on the iOS/iPadOS versions either. No album art in the useless queue list. It can’t even manage to put the currently playing track on the screen. I’m guessing we can’t blame HTTP there …

Sonos needs to fix things otherwise I can see myself ditching Sonos all together and going.  B L U E  S O U N D ! !

Im sad that half a year later Sonos still doesn't care enough to get this done. As an engineer in product development I still can't believe they thought it would be a good idea to release the new app lacking so much functionality.

Tell me about it: a lack of processes and testing.…

I did roll back to the old .apk from May and it worked lovely for a while until they blocked it!

Come on Sonos, please listen to your customer base!

Artwork for Queue items is a actually bit tricky and in this one case I can’t lame them. I remember having to disable that (years ago) in my own app because the resulting network traffic was too much for the system. I should try enabling again at least on S2 systems as the newer devices are a lot more powerful.

So when is the ANDROID/iOS bug going to be fixed?

It’s functional on the current desktop apps from a local NAS library, which is why I think many complain about it… I’m sure it was also there before May… It’s not lightning quick, but it works, along with always having the currently playing track in the queue visible.

Hello All,

Has anyone had an update about when the issue of missing Album Art for music stored on NAS Drive will be resolved  ?

Regards.

I don’t think it is going to be fixed. I think Sonos made a poor choice of UX frameworks, and they discovered (late) that the framework chosen has no way to work-around the http image problem. I would like to be wrong, but I think if something isn’t fixed in six months, it isn’t going to be, ever.

Every other control point software I’ve used in the last 20 years has shown me the album artwork from my local library in the queue and everywhere else in the app.  This 80.x controller is the first to fail to do so.

The queue not following the music progress is another flaw I cannot fathom.  Very basic stuff.

So the fix is.... Buy an iOS device. Artwork sort of works on my iPad but not my android phone.

Mine is IOS.  Still no Music Library art in the queue.

I just looked at the app roadmap and they claim music library artwork for Android is targeted for December.

Thanks everybody.

Here’s hoping SONOS will get to fix it ; and December (2025 ) would be GREAT !!

Regards.

Art in the queue is a different issue. This thread is concerned with art nowhere at all, on Android.

Just want to make sure Sonos addresses the Music Library queue album art for both Android and IOS.
