Internet lost today.  So I quickly moved to my NAS for streaming.  That worked except for one thing:  When I tried to shuffle by song, it did not have this option.  Interestingly though I was able to shuffle by the same artist only.  Ideally shuffle would work for all of NAS needs with or without internet. Has anyone else experienced this?

I’m sorry to hear about this issue you had with being unable to shuffle Music Library tracks without internet, and of course to hear that you had to go without internet - it sounds awful!

I just pulled the WAN (internet) connection out of the back of my router and tried to recreate your issue, but could not - I was able to play Music Library tracks, and hit the shuffle button to queue all ~3500 tracks and play through them randomly. It all worked.

If you are still able to recreate this issue (after internet returning but also after disabling it again in a similar fashion to what I did) then I recommend that you then reconnect to the internet and submit a support diagnostic soon after. Please take note of the number given, then get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

Please also take note of and report the size of the queue when calling in - it may be a factor.

Sorry - I just re-read your post. You say you did not even have the option to shuffle?

As in, the button highlighted below did not show?

Correct- it was odd. Before yesterday, If I went to songs, the button above would show.  Yesterday it did not and all I had was the alphabet along the RHS.  Later I went into the artists/ albums and If I clicked on Artist/Album I was able to shuffle through that artist/album only.  As I recall at one point NAS had shuffle at all levels, but seems random now, I may try to re-create the issue, but still dealing with the impact the outage had on my smart home, which also didn’t fully respond as it should have.

If you encounter the shuffle button going missing again, please take some screenshots along with the diagnostics - whether you upload them here or email them to a support agent, I’m sure they will be of use. Thanks.

As far as I understand it, the Shuffle button will only display when there is playable content (actual tracks) in the current view - so, you will not see it in Artists or Albums, but if you go to one Artist, then select All, you will see all their tracks across all Albums and the Shuffle button too. When only categories, Artists or Album names are being displayed, there is no Shuffle button displayed, by design.
