I was using the BBC Sounds from within the Sonos app S2 to play live BBC radio on my Beam but the sound has started cutting out on a regular basis which is very irritating. As I have apple devices I have switched to using bbc sounds app on my device and airplay to the Beam. It doesn’t cut out and in my view the sound quality is better.

Having spent a considerable amount of time doing checks on my network it appears that it is actually the Sonos App that is the issue. Having also lost my music library on the recent Sonos app upgrade and not had a chance to add it back in - I do wonder what the point of the Sonos App is? Beyond doing initial configuration I can do everything I need without it to a more stable and better quality. Very disappointing from Sonos.

Hi.  The Sonos app is just a controller.  It does not play music so is extremely unlikely to be responsible for the problems you are having.  The Sonos system may be responsible, but dropouts like this are almost always caused by something network related.  Have you tried simple steps like rebooting your router and Beam, and changing router wireless channel?

Sonos is designed as a multiroom, multi-source, multi-user system.  So a single source, single user and single room application isn’t the best way to judge it.

Why not just use the BBC Sounds app on your TV (or fire stick etc) to take the network out of it completely?

Why have you not been able to reinstate your music library?  I must admit I haven’t followed this issue closely, but I thought the initial issue now had a solution???

Although to be fair, I don’t use the Sonos app much myself these days.  If I want to listen to live BBC radio on any of my devices, I use Alexa.  “Alexa, play BBC Radio 6 Music “ etc.  I appreciate that not everyone wants to use voice control.
