I am having problems getting radio stations and Sonos seem unable to help. They have told me to delete all services except Sonos radio, but there are no normal radio stations available!

Where are you? Set up some radio aggregators: go here: https://support.sonos.com/en-us/services select your country, then hit the Radio checkbox. Add one or more of the results to your Sonos system.

Not sure why support told to delete all services except Sonos Radio. That is unnecessary.
What radio stations are you looking to play? If BBC, then you can add BBC Sounds as a music service.

my experience with radio stations on SONOS is that the choice of your DNS servers (configured on your router) have an impact on the stability of your streaming stations - some of them will even prevent you to connect to the streaming station
