Native Mac App - I store my music on my Mac

Think of the various SONOS controller Apps as being similar to TV remote controls. The App simply tells the players what to play. After the music starts the controller can be shut down or uninstalled. While playing music stored on your computer, SONOS players simply fetch data from the network, in this case it’s from your computer. As far as the computer is concerned, a generic device is simply fetching data over the computer’s network connection.

There is a good chance your current controller's basic functions will continue working. My really old Android, years out of support,  still controls my bedroom Sonos with no issues.

Apple is ending support for code compiled for Intel processors.  That means ANY app (not just Sonos) that is only compiled for Intel will cease to work.  Intel apps require the Rosetta interpreter distributed by Apple.  If Sonos does not recompile for native Apple processors, the Sonos app will cease to operate once Rosetta is no longer available.

I hope you are right and the app will just grab it from the Mac.  Otherwise all my Sonos gear is junk.
