I’m mildly confused by your comment. Can you not add the service of MyTuner to your Sonos system?

Many stations have legal issues (read copyright) playing some content in foreign locations, there is a sometimes restriction that can be enforced by the Sonos ‘location’, or by the IP address of the playback, or even other detections I’m not familiar with, but not all internet content is available everywhere. Sonos complies with legal requests from various companies, so if there is a restriction, it is by someone else, and not particularly Sonos.

Sonos done similar restrictions with their Voice activation systems with Amazon Alexa and Google Home, restricting usage only to those places that each company allows.

I have had my tuner radio on my Sonos System for over 16 years. This started after Brexit.

i can play it on my computer and as I said Roberts Internet Radio.

so I don’t understand your response as I said why can it be played on an internet radio

Then your best bet would be to call Sonos Support to discuss it .

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

One final comment, then. If this ‘ Robert’s Internet Radio’, whatever that is, shows up on the MyTuner app, but not in Sonos, it’s up to MyTuner to fix. They’re the ones who choose what content is shown to Sonos via the server that MyTuner has set up. The Sonos only reports what is presented to it by the MyTuner server.

I wish you luck in resolving your issue.

With respect to geographic restrictions, they seem to be slow at taking effect. In the beginning of Internet Radio access there didn’t seem to be any restrictions. It was mostly a novelty. As the copyright holders became involved, geographic restrictions started to be applied. Advertisers also become involved. If a station is billing advertisers on a per listener basis, a local restaurant will not want to pay for a listener that is thousands of miles away. As former contracts with advertisers and copyright holders expire, the new contracts may amend the geo restrictions.

Another issue that can become a problem is the station’s server address. If the station changes their service, the old link may not be viable. This is a relatively easy fix. Simply delete and reload the station. The reload will use the new address. Contacting the station directly is often, but not always, very helpful. Unfortunately, the contact can be a desk person with no technical background.

Aggregators, such as MyTuner Radio may require some time before they notice and respond to station IP address updates.
