last.fm scrobbling

Hi there,

just gotten my first Sonos product, a soundbar. I am testing the app right now and listen to a few songs.

I am wondering how to scrobble the music I am listening to to last.fm though. Somehow I cannot find an integration. This is a huge surprise to be honest since every audio device or software I used in the past 20 years supported scrobbling.

Not having scrobbling on the soundbar is annoying but it will mainly play movies. But when there is no scrobbling I cannot take Sonos serious as a music player and won’t get any other speakers which I will use for music listening.

So any help for scrobbling is appreciated, and if its not possible take this post as a feature request.

Cheers!

I can confirm that scrobbling for LastFM still works when added via the PC app.  I haven’t scrobbled since 2014 or so.  I went to the PC app, added my last FM account info (use the username, not the email.  The email doesn’t take).  Then, on the Services Settings screen, click Edit next to LastFM and then scrobbling.  Click to On.  I then played a playlist from Amazon Music and after the first song ended, this showed up in my LastFM scrobbling screen:

Scrobbling has recently been failing, Sonos no longer supports it, although they did in the past. Your post will need to serve as a feature request, I fear.

Hi @IlIkelamp

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Thanks for your post. Scrobbling on Last.fm is not available because Last.fm itself is no longer available on Sonos. I’m not sure how you are still able to play Last.fm on your Sonos system, but I am positive that there will be no change in the future status of scrobbling.

I am reasonably sure that Last.fm no longer being supported on Sonos systems is their decision, not ours, so any requests that it be supported in the future will need to go to Last.fm directly.

I hope this helps.

It appears that the decision to remove this feature was not made by Last.fm.

https://www.reddit.com/r/sonos/comments/1f6e292/sonos_support_confirm_that_there_are_no_plans_to/

Last.fm has also stated that Sonos removed the feature and says Sonos will not return it

Keep in mind that scrobbling was introduced in 2008, yet Sonos gave owners no warning that this feature would be removed with the app update. This is extremely poor treatment of customers by Sonos.

Looks like Last.fm has been removed from the mobile Sonos app, but I’ve still got it in the desktop version, though I assume that means it will disappear there soon too. This is very unfortunate, as I’ve used that integration daily since the beginning of my Sonos setup over a decade ago
