Hello Sonos Community,

I’ve encountered a frustrating issue since the latest release of the Sonos app. I can no longer play Italian radio stations from the UK (radio Deejay for example).

I attempted to resolve this by contacting customer service, but the experience was less than ideal. I was faced with an estimated 85-90 minute wait, and there was no status update about my queue position. The hold music was also quite nerve-wracking.

When I finally got through to a representative, she suggested I change my address to a different country. This solution seems both ridiculous and impractical. Why should I have to falsify my location when I am legally entitled to listen to these radio stations regardless of where I am?

Even more perplexing, I can still access these radio stations through Alexa without any issues. Unfortunately, the representative wasn't very confident or clear on how to help me further.

Given the premium price of the Sonos system, this situation is quite disappointing. Has anyone else experienced this issue, or does anyone have a more viable solution? Any assistance or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I feel your pain, I live in the uk and all my american stations have disappeared, just frozen out. Listening to radio stations across the world is my priority and Sonos have taken that away.

Hi @kazetnik & @akanowil

Thanks for your post!

Sonos have done nothing to change which stations you can play in the UK - you can probably blame Brexit for that. For what it’s worth, I also live in the UK, so this is not said from a position of ignorance.

You do not have a legal right to play any music you like - the music industry is driven by licensing, and heavily so. Any radio station that allows playback in a country that they are not licensed to broadcast to can face severe penalties, and Brexit changed these licensing agreements (any license that previously covered the EU no longer covers the UK).

Note that if you can find/see a station in the Sonos app (excepting favourites or recently played links), you should be able to play it. If you cannot find it, it is not available to you. If you can find a station but cannot play it (and if other stations work), then I’d encourage you to please contact our technical support team to report it.

I hope this helps.
