I have an External SSD drive connected to my Del Windows 11 laptop, and would like to share the drive to my sonos system. I have tried the solution that one of the members solved, however still at an dead end. Any assistance greatly appreciated. Thanks old analog head.

Follow the instructions in the link even though it’s for a NAS. You just have to set a path to the drive going through your computer. However your computer must be on your network and powered on to access the drive via the Sonos app.

However, you could invest in a NAS device and move the contents of the SSD to it. In that way the NAS is always on and available (unless you have a shutdown/restart schedule set during certain times). No need to have your computer turned on or wake it from sleep.

Thanks for your reply, I think where I am getting loss is how to set up that path. More computer experience would be good. When I tried to follow the path I have still hit a wall. Can you point me to the instructions again for this. My computer is running windows 11, and it is on my home network. I was able to see the sonos locatiion that is on the network as well, however I have no app for the external drive, it is just listed as the e drive and contains the music folder that has the ripped music I have been loading on it. Any addition pointers greatly appreciated. Thanks old analog head.

There is no app for the external drive,  you just create a Windows share for it.

I have followed the instructions and when I go to the sonos app and have it attempt to share my drive it is turning the back \\ in.to //and saying //Mikesbook/e is no longer available. Does it mean someone else has this name for the computer? Still no luck. Thanks in advance for you help along the way. Cheers old analog head

I’m curious, what did Sonos Support say, when you called in to discuss it?

Try this…

//IP address of your computer/path to the SSD found in Disk Management/Folder where music is stored on SSD

Note: If music files are not assigned to a folder on the SSD then create one and move all music files to it. Suggested name for the folder “music”.
