I just have to say it. More than a year after its introduction, the app still sucks. Balky, unpredictable, unresponsive. A year is too long! Why does Sonos refuse to go back to the previous version at least until they perfect the new version. I’m done. I haven’t bought any Sonos products since this debacle started and I’ve warned everyone I can not to buy either. Maybe someone will buy Sonos and fix the problems or bury them and put an end to this.
Sorry to hear you’re still experiencing issues,
Are you running the latest app release? And (sticking my neck out here) is there any chance your network could be configured differently to produce better performance?
nik9669a,
Just wondering, do you work for Sonos? This is a yes or no question.
Yes, I’m running the latest version and my devices are all set to auto-update
Nothing wrong with my network. It’s a 3 point Google mesh and exactly the same as it was before upgrade disaster when Sonos worked far better. Everything else in my house works perfectly. 4K video anywhere I want. Plenty of bandwidth everywhere.
The app is slow to update speaker volume positions, slow to respond to changes in volume, changes in source input, blah, blah, blah. Still missing features like individual speaker muting. It’s impossible to miss that a large portion of the Sonos community is still very unhappy and I will be too until this app works at least as well as the old one. Sonos needs to stop trying to spin this as individual user problems. Too many people are still complaining about the same issues.
This is much like a hospital — here “everyone” is sick. One does not normally go to a hospital just to use the vending machines.
SONOS has modernized its use of the network somewhat and the default settings of some routers need to be updated.

It’s a solid NO. Do they have a Sonos logo next to their name?

No.
I don’t work for Sonos, or any of its subsidiaries (if they have any). Nor do I receive any form of payment or consideration from them.

I don’t see the same issues as you. As I already said, whether I use the app or voice commands, my speakers respond quickly to volume changes etc. I have just checked, and I can mute individual speakers in a group (quickly) without a stutter from the other speakers, and mute individual speakers.
Good luck to you in resolving your issues - though it’s a shame you’re not even prepared to consider any possible improvement by looking at your network settings, which I still feel may be a contributing factor even if there are still app improvements to come.
I find it somewhat bizarre that 4 members that post or comment to someone’s issues…..never seem to have any issues of their own. Their system always seems flawless..

Most people’s systems are flawless.

Mine has not always been flawless.
Some years back I had issues with speakers dropping out, but a few simple steps (setting ip addresses for devices and running on a fixed wifi channel rather than Auto hopping, as I recall) resolved them. I also had an issue when a neighbour set up his new wifi and it caused interference on mine. Again, a simple change (running on a different channel) resolved that. That’s why I’m always surprised when those with issues are reluctant to consider reconfiguring their network.
What IS bizarre is that those with issues seem to not want advice from those without issues.
It’s like going on a weight loss forum to seek advice on the best ways to lose weight and to improve energy, only to tell those who have achieved such goals that, no, you only want to hear from others who find weight loss challenging. “Good for you that you’ve lost weight, but me and many others like me are still overweight. And no, it’s not my diet snetwork] or lack of exercise, as I’ve not touched my diet or moved my body more since I started being overweight.”
It's not flawless for me, but it is improved on where it was a year ago.
Overall it's better but response times do still lag on occasion.

None of our pad/phone controllers had first letter library scrolling available until last week. Should we have mentioned that in every thread before we tried to help another user resolve an issue that we never experienced or have already resolved on our own system?
