So my app recently updated and now I can’t change my EQ settings or control volume limits on my devices.

anyone else experiencing the same issue. Worked fine before the latest update..

All is working okay here, maybe try a reboot of the local router & speakers and see if that resolves the issue. Perhaps power off all to begin with and bring each device back online one at a time, letting each device settle before moving on to the next.

If problems persist and you’re using WiFi for connectivity, then check your speaker SNR levels in the Sonos App as mentioned here…

https://support.sonos.com/en-us/article/understanding-the-network-details-section-in-the-sonos-app

If practicable, try to get the SNR levels to 45dB (or higher) - a strong WiFi connection.

This is just a guess but if what Ken suggested doesn’t help, I wonder if the Volume Limit setting and the EQ settings could be affected like the Alarms is when an ad-blocker/dns filtering is in place. Do you happen to have Pi-hole or anything similar? (add at least sonos.com to the whitelist).

The Alarms option won’t show up System Settings > Manage when Pi-hole or similar blocks.

By “I can’t change my EQ settings or control volume limits” do you mean that

  1. You can’t see the options at all
  2. You can see those options but can’t change the values
  3. You can see and can change them but values won’t stick and return to previous settings?
  4. Something else?

Can you change them with another controller app (iPhone, iPad, Android)?

Blocking was discussed e.g. here:

Just unboxed a new Move 2 and a pair of Era 100s (last week). The EQ settings won’t hold on either when I change them in the app. Seems to be widely known issues with a lot of Reddit users stating the same thing.

I’ve closed the app multiple times per others recommendation. Still nothing. Seems to have began around the time of the new app launch which is disappointing.

not opposed to rebooting my WiFi router but struggle to understand how that could possible be impacting the EQ settings not being saved.

I’ve just tested my own Era 100s (paired) and their EQ is working okay. (See attached). The reason for suggesting a reboot of the LAN is that the software/settings that you are changing are on the speakers themselves and it maybe the case that the Sonos App (which is just a controller/‘remote’ App) is not connecting to the speakers, or is losing the connection to them and so on ‘App refresh’ you’re seeing the speaker EQ settings which in fact were not actually altered by the App, as the App/Speaker connection is not working, or is intermittent.

Hope that makes sense.

Do you notice any change in tonal quality when changing the EQ?  Do you notice changes in volume listening levels when a Max volume is changed.  If the changes make it to the speaker they will be retained.

Maybe the app should tell you if the changes actually took.

Hi all

sorry for the delay in replying.

The issue I have is the same as PJR ATX. The EQ settings won’t hold.

When I adjust the EQ there is also no tonal difference, this also applies to the volume limiting function.

The issue started after the latest update to the app..

Thanks for the reply Ken. Understand what you are saying now. Won’t go into why that definitely wasn’t the issue.

regardless and for Stewie, I was able to get it working by following a suggestion from a poster on another thread to delete the app completely and download a clean/new version to my iPhone. That seems to have done the trick. Weird bc my app was fully updated but maybe there were some bad artifacts in mine from before the new one updated.

Give that a try Stewie if you haven’t. All your settings should hold especially once you login. At least everything was there for me and all my devices were recognized.

Thanks PJR ATX

It seemed by deleting the app and reinstalling has resolved the issue.

The settings I choose are now being stored..

Should not have to do that of course.
