My BBC Sounds plugin has stopped working. Fine yesterday afternoon, but had stopped working by 10pm, still not working today. I just get a meessage saying “BBC Sounds couldn’t play Radio 4. Try again”

Not working when invoked via either phone or tablet; Not working on any Sonos device, including wired devices. Other content (Sonos stations, Spotify) works fine.

I’ve tried all the usual stuff which never works (cycling power on devices, cycling power on router), to no avail…….

What did Sonos Support say, when you called them? I’m not in the UK, so I can’t test, but it sounds like potentially the BBC server is unreachable, but there isn’t enough detail in your post to be certain.

I’ve not had time to contact them directly yet, I was vaguely hoping they might reply to this.

I’m not sure how to provide more information, given that there is just a generic error message with no technical detail. The native BBC Sounds App, and the web-based Sounds site on my computer, can play programmes fine so it’s definitely not a general problem with server access from my location.

I have actually resolved this, having had more time to play. It seems that the BBC Sounds plugin within the Sonos app needed to be re-authenticated with my BBC account. It then started working again.

It would of course have been a great deal better if the plug-in had actually told me that, rather than just offering a useless generic error message…… One of the (many) frustrations with the Sonos software…...

Thanks for the guidance, I’ve just had exactly the same problem (and solution) All solved….for now!

My access to BBCsounds stopped this morning. I tried deleting the service and reauthorising (as suggested) but this has not worked for me. I can get other radio stations (via SonosRadio, TuneIn, etc) just nothing via BBC sounds. I get the really helpful "something went wrong" message.

Édit: working again now, no idea why as I didn't do anything, I'm just pleased that it is! Perhaps the re-auth took a bit of time?? I have more issues with the Sonos app/system than any other thing on my network. Just as well that I'm a little tech savvy since I suspect many people would be stuck and given up and/or binned Sonos by now.

My BBC channels all stopped working last week. No explanation just "try again". After much researching it turns out that the BBC have stopped allowing their channels to work through Sonos Radio or Tunein - they will only operate through BBC sounds. I had to remove BBC Sounds from my sonos system and then reinstall it. Now all works again!

Thanks. This resolved my problem. No indication on Sonos or on BBC this is required.
