If I search for an artist that I know is on Bandcamp - Jon Charles Dwyer, for example - in the Sonos app, I get no results. Searching on the Bandcamp website works fine, so I know he exists. This is the Sonos app on Android.

Search definitely doesn't seem to be working at all for me through the Sonos app.
Can you check that your location is set correctly in your Sonos profile www.sonos.com
