Why do I need to install the Apple Music app on my iPad to authorize Apple Music in the Sonos app? After uninstalling AM from my iPad, AM on Sonos stops working, and after removing AM from Sonos, it cannot be reauthorized.

Ipad Pro 24 controller, 2xEra 300 speakers, all connected to the Internet via Ethernet.

Not sure if that is a bug or how it is meant to work. I’d imagine few people uninstall Apple Music from the iPad, but maybe someone can interject who has done that to verify (or otherwise) your experience.

However, to get it to work again, can you not just reinstall the Apple Music app on your iPad?

I reinstalled AM on the iPad. But I wonder why AM has to be installed on the iPad, but on Android AM on Sonos works without installing AM on Samsung S23.

Perhaps, on the iPad, Apple uses a simplified authorisation process where it can quickly detect you having an active Apple Music subscription, but it needs the AM app to be installed and logged in to do so..?

When I uninstalled AM from my iPad, a message popped up saying "keep or cancel subscription"
I unchecked "keep".
