sonos Android app 80.23.9

sonos OS 85-0-65270

Android 14 Kernal 5.10.218

There is a repeatable bug in the android app where it can delete the wrong entries when you are editing a playlist.

I have a playlist with 10 or so albums,

  1. open the playlist to edit
  2. delete two entries at the beginning
  3. then scroll down and delete, lets call it the 40th entry
  4. press done
  5. Review the result and you will find that entries 1 and 2 have gone BUT entry 40 is still present and entry 42 has been deleted instead.

I repeated this test 5 times and it happened every time

What changes things is if you hit DONE on EVERY screen you have deleted something and you don’t scroll down to edit other entries first then it appears to delete the correct entries.

Such mistakes are easy to miss unless you are very careful in reviewing your changes and you are looking out for it which is why I suspect so few have reported a problem.

(BTW I noticed this behaviour in prior versions of the APP and reported it)

The IPAD OS version does not suffer this same issue. (nor does the desktop version of course)

Hi @Editor

Thank you for reporting this behaviour. I just attempted to recreate it on my own Android phone and was unable to do so - the correct track further down the list was removed from the playlist.

I was also unable to reproduce the behaviour you reported in this thread either:

I shall reply there in a moment with a link to this reply, just to tidy things up.

As I was unable to reproduce either behaviour on my own Android device, please try a reboot of yours, and if that does not help any, please try a reset of the Sonos app (User icon » App Preferences » Reset App).

If that does not help matters either, please record screen-captures of the two behaviours and either upload them to YouTube (making them public too) or a file sharing service and post the links to them here, or instead call in to our technical support team who will investigate further. After a support case is created for you, they’ll be able to send an email that you can reply to with the links/files (size permitting). If you opt to post the links here rather than call in, please let me know which brand your Android device is, and submit a support diagnostic after recreating the issue from the same device, but please do not post the given number here. Thanks.

I hope this helps.

Resetting the app hasn't resolved this issue so here are a few screenshots to show the behaviour.

Hi @Editor

Sorry to hear that resetting the app did not help with this issue (but I am glad to hear that it helped with the other issue you were having).

Thanks for the screenshots.

Could you please let me know what brand and model of Android device you have, and also submit a support diagnostic after recreating this issue? Thanks. Please don’t post the given number here - just let me know when you have done it, thanks.

Hi @Editor

Thanks! With an extant support case, this issue is now much more likely to be resolved. We appreciate the effort you put in.
