Windows and their messes are an excellent selling point for simple - single drive NAS boxes. (Network Attached Storage)
Good deals out there that will host your music as well as providing a secure location to back up your other data.
Higher end, dual or more drive, NAS are available but not needed for Sonos use.

Personally, I’ve always preferred storing my music on an NAS. This allows the computer to go off on some sort of adventure while music continues to play.
Some routers support USB drives. This would be a minimum power scheme. I’ve never tried this and I’ve read comments suggesting this scheme can be as much fun as your W11 adventure.

USB drive from my router was my original set-up and worked well for many years.
In fact it was a change of router which forced me to abandon.
Then tried PC USB and finally D:\
