I can no longer access Newstalk radio (Ireland) on my Sonos system. selecting the station either under Tunein or via Sonos radio just plays the intro adverts in a constant loop… FRUSTRATING!!

I can’t find that station using Sonos search (using new Sonos app as don’t have active S1 system) or even in the TuneIn app. Can you post a screenshot of how it appears?

Some stations will fail to play on S1 system and only play ads due to SSL (cryptography) issues.

Found it now on TuneIn app. Station not available in the UK, so that’s why I can’t locate it in a Sonos search.


Hi Mike,  Same for me …welcome to Tunein on a death loop!   …just spent the last 2 hours rebooting my full Sonos system, Sonos amp and speakers, Virgin router and whatever else!!    Also tried reloading a new version of Tunein to Sonos…..not making a difference.   Even changed my apple IP settings to private relay to try and mask  location.   Oddly RTE stations work fine over Tunein…..just Newstalk failing.  I think there is a licensing issue which has been dropped unceremoniously on the customer base.    Huge waste of time and very very frustrating!!   If I figure something out I’ll post it up. 


Same here, I managed to get it on my Tuner radio but this is gone now as well.

I’m sorry to hear that you are unable to play Newstalk radio on your Sonos system. Thanks for reporting this.

My colleague (through a VPN, to be clear, as the station is geo-restricted) was able to play NewsTalk radio without issue, though he did report that there were more ads at the start than he considers normal.

I am glad to hear that you found the station on another aggregator - should you need to go back to TuneIn and still have problems playing, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

Service appears to have returned on Sonos radio!   For a while it was linking to a US based radio station then looping back to the welcome intro.   It now however after a long sequence of ads advances to Newstalk.  Lets see.  I raised an SR with TuneIn to see what they say.
