Alright, July 22 app update just dropped.

I took the risk of updating so you don’t have to 🙃🤣 So far so good, it opened on first try. Will update.

Is it working for you?

Samsung Android users are you back to a working app?

iOS release notes

  • Added setup, configuration, and search for local Music Library
  • Improved account settings for Sonos Pro subscribers
  • Added line-in autoplay and compression settings
  • Improved accessibility in Settings
  • Improved notification for player firmware updates
  • Improved Sub audio settings with Amp

ETA THE GOOD :

  • local library search is working
  • Configuration and set up for local libraries is there but I’m not testing it as it’s working for me and I don’t want to tempt fate
  • Line in auto play seems to be working.
  • Sub audio has phase control and crossover frequency. I haven’t tested if they actually do anything but hopefully working as expected.

***Loading way quicker on my network, ~2.5 seconds after a force close for Recently played, sonos favourites etc to populate. (10 sonos devices).

Last used room controls at the bottom are available right away, ie can stop whats playing in a hurry if required. I think this is a good change.

Release notes not updated yet but will be posted here whenever they get around to it.

Moderator edit: typo in title changed

Woo. Hoo. Today’s v80.05.06 of the Android app no longer crashes playing local library music.

Not that it matters to me as I’m on iOS.

Just kidding as I want everyone to be able to enjoy their Sonos. 👍

Thanks for reporting @press250 😊😊😊

Still nothing in today's app update as promised for the Ace

The Ace received an update 1.5 weeks ago.

Nothing useful in that update and Sonos can't bother to provide Ace release notes. In the live AMA session about a month ago they promised TrueCinema for the Ace towards the end of July....

It’s only 22nd July...

The compilation issue aside, will the ‘tile’ view be reinstated? Given the space of the iPad screen, I find it much better to see my library as a series of album sleeves rather than a list? Also the ability to jump down the library by letter is extremely useful, but still missing.

^^^ yes this as well as returning to your spot on a list when going forwards and backwards.

This one seems mostly for android.

Sonos rep post from Reddit

snip

Last week (Tuesday, July 16) we released a player update that does not contain any user facing changes. Nevertheless, please ensure that both your players are up to date, as well as the Sonos App itself. This can be done by checking for updates in the Sonos App (for player updates), and checking in the App Store or Google Play Store.

# A few notes about Local Music Library Functionality...

***Fixes for all of the following issues will be addressed in future updates. Appreciate your patience!***

* After adding/removing a share, there can be a delay during reindexing where it’s not clear that Music Library indexing is happening, and some leftover elements of a removed share can still show up during reindexing. Be patient - it is in fact, *still* indexing.
* Music Library **Search** is not accessible in the controller without access to the Internet.
* Local Music Library will not work for alarms.

*^(Again, these are features and functionality that)* ***^(will be coming back in future updates...)***

**Additional things to consider specifically on Android:**

* The “More” menu, Play Now and Play Next options may fail with *"something went wrong"* for local library content. Local Music Library albums are also currently unable to be favorited.
* When a new library share is added, it doesn't appear in the music library settings page. The share does appear if you dive into Music Library > Folders. It may appear if the share disappears after closing/reopening the app, but the share is successfully added.

**Things to consider specifically on iOS:**

* No album art of Albums in Sonos Favorites

It’s not lost on me that delivering Local Music Library functionality with these issues isn’t ideal. However, in the spirit of transparency, myself and the team want to be sure you understand the current state of Music Library functionality and that all of the above considerations **will** be fixed in future updates.

Also - please continue sharing your feedback and concerns. It’s because of your feedback that we’ve recently started to bring more and more information to our release notes - *anyone remember “bug fixes and improvements”?* It takes consistent and meaningful effort to change opinions and win back trust. It won’t happen overnight however I appreciate every comment and DM you’ve sent while we try to do just that.

app is still garbage, shame on Sonos for releasing an app that renders the system pretty much useless. If your goal was to piss everyone off and create more work than your tech support can handle, well then Congratulations, you  f#%kin nailed it!!!

Only a fix for library.

Cannot add albums or songs to queue from music service now which I could before! Just make them a fav... which disappears into the blurred screen after 5 secs... as it has done for 10 weeks now!

Queue management is due back at the end of August.

white Beam won't connect anymore

App finds a sub and black beam... Where are they?

It would've been difficult to be worse than latest app

Disaster

Roam dropped off the app mid song but Kept playing. Can control it in SonoPhone so appears to be an app problem.

Yeah, can't add from library but after an hour of the app just sitting open on phone suddenly the full menu allowing adding, playing next etc appeared for Amazon... thick cloud in NW England must be it... 🤪

The local library search isn’t working for me. I get a “Check service status” error. Also, is there any way to reindex my library? I added 3 albums last week, but can’t see them.

Thanks.

Settings>Manage>Music Library>Scan For New Content

Line-In autoplay and autoplay volume seem to work as expected. 👍

Also autoplay to a specific room seems to work as well.

No “Something Went Wrong” errors yet for me. Still early but good sign.

Looks like I will have to wait longer to sell my speakers 😜

Thanks! The Manage function is not very prominently displayed in the upper right. I completely missed it.

Definitely some problems with Music Library. Was able to add it, index and play it yesterday. Today, it was gone and had to add it again, which took an age.

First time since the new app introduced that the app started without me having to force close, although volume still very slow to operate.  Am I right in thinking that all traffic from teh app has to go to sonos first before being routed to my sonos - no other explanation for the time lag???

I can’t even find how to supposedly reach my local music library - I have looked and looked and looked and clicked again and again on the top right hand “wheel” logo. I have gone through every option. No sign of anything relating to local music library. Unlike many, I am not great with technology, but neither am I stupid. It still doesn’t seem to be working.

I’d check you definitely have the latest version, then for the iOS app, if you click on the ‘wheel’ and then on the word Manage next to the name of your system, you should see a screen like this:

If you then click on Music Library it should give something akin to this with the option to add a shared folder.

I now need to reconnect to my system every time i open the app.

Thanks Iain - yes, done all that as your screen shots show, except that all options are there except for “Music Library”. I took the Sonos app off my tablet and re-downloaded the supposed latest version, but to no avail. Maybe it just isn’t the latest version, for some reason.

  • Now the Music Library option is showing (it must have taken some time to show up) but now I have the usual path/sharename/password stuff that I had when trying to make a “dummy NAS” over the last two months.

I now need to reconnect to my system every time i open the app.

Maybe try reinstalling the app.

Also, turn off your router, speakers, and phone. Turn on each and let then fully boot up/connect before moving on to the next device (router → speakers → phone). Then re-open the app.

I found that I had to go to the Apple App store to get the updated one. Trying to update in the app just kept telling me sytem was up to date. 🤔
