Sound Blaster X4 + Sonos Beam Gen 2 on PC - Not outputting sound

I recently bought a Sound Blaster X4 for my Sonos Beam Gen 2 to connect it to my gaming PC. I think I've done everything correctly but I'm not getting any output. While fiddling with the settings last night I managed to get sound but turning my PC on today, there's nothing outputting from the Beam.

I connected my PC to the X4 via USB -> X4 to Beam Gen 2 through SPDIF out using the supplied Sonos dongle. I set the default playback to SPDIF Out (Sound Blaster X4). Set up the Beam 2 via the iOS app but didn't connect it to any TVs. Still no sound. What am I doing wrong?

What codec is the Soundblaster trying to send to the Beam through the optical dongle adapter? Or, perhaps the PC? The maximum that can be carried by an optical cable is Dolby Digital. If, for instance, the PC/Soundblaster is trying to send Atmos, there isn’t enough bandwidth capability in an optical cable, and you’d get silence.

I’m curious if you solved this issue? I received my Sound Blaster X4 yesterday and hooked it up to a Sony Beam Gen2 on a Macbook Pro. Had it working yesterday and today no sound.

Airplay does work though, so makes me think something might be wrong with the Sound Blaster.
