New Router now can't connect to Sonos BR100 & ZP90

I have a Zonebridge BR100 & a Connect ZP90, this was working fine up until about a week ago when my Router died and I had to replace it.

The new router is a TP Link Archer AX72 and is working great for everything else. As soon as I connect the ethernet cable to the ZoneBridge my internet speeds in the house plummet from around 40Mbps to less than 200-300Kbps, the TP-Link Router tells me that a new device has connected but nothing can be found on the Sonos App, the Network lights are flashing on the ZB. I have reset the ZB and the App but still no devices can be found. As soon as I disconnect the ethernet cable from the ZB my internet speeds in the house go back to normal.

I don’t know what else to try.

Any advice gratefully received!!

I’d retire the BRIDGE completely. They’re past expected life, and the power supply, which goes pear shaped, makes tracking things down a bit hard. Either wire your ZP90 directly to the router with an Ethernet cable, or have it hang off your WiFi directly. See the wired and wireless modes FAQ.

As to the original problem, it sounds like there were multiple wired Sonos devices and a broadcast storm took the network down because something (possibly the Archer if that’s the only item that’s changed) was blocking STP packets.

Ok, I didn't realise you could connect the ZP90 directly, but cable isn't an option due to location of router, so will have to be WiFi..…I'll give that a try....👍

Just one wired Sonos device (The ZB) and one Wireless ZP90, that's all I have.

You've lost me a little with Broadcast Storms and STP packets....😂.... Is there something I need to change on the Router?

With only one SONOS device wired to the network you will not have a ‘storm’. I suggest that you eliminate the BRIDGE because they may cause hard to describe, intermittent issues. Temporarily wire the ZP90 to your network while you setup its WiFi.

Firstly thank you to all those that replied, I have largely sorted the problem except for one slightly odd issue with the S1 Android app. I should also correct one error in my original post in that I actually have a ZP80 not ZP90.

Just a little background on my home network. It’s a TP-Link Router in the living room, then I have 4 x Netgear Wireless Access Points around the house (it’s an old cob cottage so WiFi doesn’t go far).

As suggested I have removed the ZoneBridge and connected my ZP80 directly. I factory reset the ZP80 and temporarily relocated it to nearby my Router (other side of the living room) and connected it via an ethernet cable. Went through the set-up process and connected with no issues, so then went into Network settings to set it up to run wireless connected to my TP-Link Router, which again it did with no problem. I unplugged the ethernet cable and then my android app said it could no longer connect to my Sonos system. I also had the S1 app open on my laptop, but I could still see and control the ZP80 with no issues.

I have reset and uninstalled & reinstalled the app on my android but still can’t connect unless I connect to my network via one of the Netgear WAP’s then it works fine, but not when connected to the main TP-Link Router, which is what the ZP80 is connected to.

I guess the router needs a tweak somewhere, but not sure where to look.

What are the “Netgear WAPs”? Orbi? Nighthawk? Most WiFi meshes contain a router in the primary node by default, breaking the local network into two subnets. Sonos controllers and players need to be on the same subnet.

The options are to put the mesh into bridge/AP mode, or to ensure that nothing connects to the internet gateway (apart from the mesh primary obviously).

They are WAC104 standalone Wireless APs, so not a mesh setup. The TP Link router is handling IP addresses from the APs, so all on the same Subnet as far as I can tell (we are pushing the limits of my IT/networking knowledge here btw...😆).

Strangely my wife's mobile, which is a Samsung Android very similar model to mine, works absolutely fine with the S1app when connected to the TP Link Router, no issues at all, so I'm at a bit a loss.... Maybe it's my mobile that's an issue....🤷
