Let's talk about Sonos Connect, Connect:AMP, Sonos AMP, and setups using Sonance architectural, or your own speakers and components.

A surprisingly poor review of the Port was posted on their website a few days ago. They didn’t like the: Poor organisation and timing Little dynamic expression Severe lack of punch For them it was step backwards compared to the Connect. Interestingly they felt these attributes remained to a significant extent even when using a quality outboard Dac. To me this doesn’t make much sense at all. Sound quality which is “as disorganised as a teenager’s bedroom” and punch which is “so lacking you almost expect its corner to throw in the towel” would surely be a primarily a function of the built-in DAC and analogue stage. By saying things weren’t dramatically improved by using a £1200 Chord DAC, WhatHiFi appear to be pointing the finger elsewhere. Jitter perhaps? Any thoughts on this?
I have many strong feeling towards 'Recycle Mode’ but sticking plainly to the facts. Erasing user data from a device is one thing but driving up profits at the cost of the environment for profits sake alone is another. Recycle mode should be removed in my opinion, the idea of a landfill of Sonos devices that should still be in service makes anyone uneasy. Then there is the thought of all the precious metals involved in manufacture, the time it will take for those dense high-quality plastics and fibre glass to decay, the time it will take for the PCB to decay, the chemical residue that will remain afterwards in the soil, not to mention if those rare materials in manufacture were conflict free in the first place. A quick google search of what the world does with e-waste shows a trend for shipping it to a developing country where they can be dumped and left to rot for the next millennia. That high quality poly-carbonate exterior should still be distinguishable by 3020. My physics teache
As a long time Sonos user am quite disappointed. https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/review-and-measurements-of-sonos-amp.6957/
Hi All.I have been a very happy Sonos user for about 13 year.Playbar for my TV - flawless and nice (would be nice if the RF remote to my Samsung could control volume on the Playbar, but I can live with using the IR remote for that)For Hifi I have been running:Sonos Connect with optical/toslink to Denon AVR-2800 KEF XQ20 (great compact speakers) B&W ASW610 SubNow I decided it was time to go one step the Sonos ladder, so last week I got myself a Sonos AMP.That meant cutting away the Denon+ Connect, and going max on user friendliness, something my wife would highly appreciate, while maintaining (what I expected to be) great sound quality coming off the AMPs Class-D amplifier. When first time powering up the system, my jaw dropped. What a poor experience in terms of sound harmony. The calm and collected, firm, harmonic music experience I have be enjoying the past 2-3 years in our new house with an impressively efficient ceiling was gone. Now I felt something like harsh sounding vocals
I am placing 6 amps in a home run cabinet and wanted recommendations on CFM air flow recommendations? 2 amps per 2U rack. This rack will also contain 4 Network devices and 2 battery back devices.https://www.pennelcomonline.com/au/Penn-Elcom-2U-Rack-Shelf-and-Faceplate-Cut-Out-For-2-x-Sonos-Amp-Units-R14982UK-SONAMP2/m-10184.aspxWas planning on intake and exhaust like below. 20 to 60 CFMhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076BZSRKQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2AW0W4FKP16S5&psc=1The closet is air conditioned but wall mounted rack is higher up on the wall approximately 7’.
Hi all, I preordered an ARC and a Sub Gen 3 to replace a fairly old set up consisting of an AVR plus center speaker and two small left and right speakers. I want to declutter and get rid of the big AVR to safe space and simplify my setup. I already own two Sonos Ones which I can potentially use as rears for the setup to make a 5.1 system. I will definitely get the ARC as I don’t have much space by the TV (its wall mounted) and need a fairly “flat” speaker that fits wall-mounted below the TV. Since I would also like a good setup for some music listening I was thinking about adding two nice stereo speaker to this setup (I’m no strict audiophile but do like good sound). Those additional speakers would most likely sit left and right of the TV and face the sofa. However, my dining table is directly behind the sofa, where my wife and I also spend a good amount of time. So we would also consider putting those speaker behind the sofa and aim them more at the dining table (in this case the sp
Hi all! Just wonder how the SONOS fans will use their SONOS PORT? For me, I found that the following connections could help me to resolve the problems and achieve what originally failed to… just would like to share here: AUX output - nothing special, just connected with my BOSE Companion 20 (computer speakers set) Digital output (Coaxial output) - I connected it with a Bluetooth transmitter, so I can stream the music or TV sound to my Bluetooth headphones. AUX input - I connected it with Chromecast Audio, so I can stream/cast whatever music from my mobile to my SONOS system.
As it looks the new AMP will only be available in black. This makes me very disappointed as I would have loved to commission my old (white) Connect Amp installed in my kitchen and have it replaced with the new Amp. I have all speaker cables wired to a spot were I keep the Connect Amp very visible on a (white) counter top. I only have white and aluminium as a colour scheme. There is NO way I would buy a black one. Sonos, please reconsider in the same way you did with the Sub (that original only came in Black) and make a white Amp available. I will buy one immediately. Anyone else with the same wish?
I have a new sonos port and I want to conect to my imac with Focusrite Scarlet 2i2, but there isn´t sound in my another sonos. Someone know if it is possible?
I’ve failed to add my Sonos Port devices to my Logitech Harmony Elite. The Logitech app finds the Port devices on the network, but then gives an error saying “D1000: Failed to save your device information to the server.” Has anyone had succes adding a Port to their Logitech Harmony remote?
I took a stab at finding an adequate solution for hooking up my new Sonos Port to my Crown D-75A amplifier… it turns out it was easy, not finding help from any provided inbox instructions from Sonos, so I though I would share on the community forum. https://www.nilesaudio.com/product/voltage-triggered-ac-power-strip-FG00242 This $200 product was on eBay used for $9… The 3.5mm cable cost me more than the relay box at Best Buy… I just had to strip one end to the IN terminal and plug the 3.5mm into the Port. I leave my amp switch on, and then play my device (Sonos App, Airplay2, etc.), it activates my amp and I listen… And the after about a minute of dead air from pause or shut off, my amps power turns off. Now I don’t waste power or have to get up and actually remember to turn off my amp… Fear not.
I have a living room that I have had to break into two rooms. Room 1 - Playbar, 2x Play 1’s for TV Room 2 - Sonos amp with wired speakers for music I also have a Sonos sub which I want to be able to connect to both rooms. When playing TV I don’t use the amp and wired speakers. Then when listening to music I want the amp and sub only, I don’t want my music being played with Playbar and 1’s. Sub is not moving, it stays in same spot in the room. I just need to be able to swap the sub between the rooms. I was hoping the new software was going to deal with this but NO. I know I’m not the only one with this setup problem. Please Help
Hey guys I am looking into buying the Sub to add to my existing x2 play 1 and the Beam which I already enjoy very much. I understand the sub really improves the sound experience for music and movies. My question is should I buy the Gen 3 or go for the older model which now is 145 dollars cheaper? and how do I tell if it is Gen 1 or 2? I cannot tell from extensive google search a Gen 1 from 2?
Sorry if this has already been discussed (couldn’t find a thread), but I wonder if anyone has had a similar issue. Once I got over my anger at the ‘not updating legacy kit’ issue, I took some time out and despite being a hair’s breadth from leaving Sonos altogether, eventually decided to swallow my anger. With a number of legacy products on my system I couldn’t afford to just go and spend another £2k+ in one go to update. So, a few weeks ago I purchased 2 x Sonos1’s to replace two Play5’s. I received the 30% discount on them and thought no more of it. I then went a few days ago to look at the Amp and Port to replace my old Amp Connect and Connect with a view to perhaps purchasing in the next few weeks. On my account it showed that the credit against these 2 items had already been redeemed. I couldn’t see how as I hadn’t bought replacements for them. When I queried this with Sonos, they said they had applied the Connect and Connect Amp discounts against my recent purchase of the 2 x S
Hello, I am considering getting the Sonos amp for a pair of Revel M106 speakers and a sub (Rythmik or SVS). I have seen a few threads on the Sonos amp subwoofer out not getting subwoofers loud enough. -Could Sonos provide the voltage output of the subwoofer out on the Sonos Amp? This would be helpful so we could know if it is a high enough level to drive the amps in non-Sonos subwoofers. -For someone that owns a Sonos Amp, play a test tone with the subwoofer out set to on and put a volt meter on it so we know? I really would like to order it but am unsure if it has enough signal level for these 2 subs. Thanks
Hello Folks, First off, my Sonos has changed my life across the board. I cannot say enough good things about it. 10 yrs ago I purchased a Yamaha RX-V671. Solid piece of gear although a little long in the tooth. It came with Pandora burned into the system (along with Sirrus). I subscribed to Pandora and was able to use the “Line-in” feature of the Sonos. I can successfully use the RX-V671 to output Pandora to my Sonos. This past Christmas, my son convinced me to ditch Pandora and go with Spotify. With this whole pandemic, “shelter in place” thing going on, I am slowly working through my “honey-do” list. Today I tried every configuration I could muster for the Internet to try and output the Sonos CONNECT into the Yamaha RX-V671 so I could play Spotify in my living room. I tried bothe optical and analog (RCA jacks). I double checked the RCA cables with a continuity meter. Lines are clean. I tried using Audio 1, Audio 2 as well as the audio inputs that have an analog video conne
I have a new Sonos port connected to a Yamaha receiver . I also have this grouped with a play 3 . (For the record i have dozens of Sonos components never have had a problem) When i play a pandora station Thru the port , grouped with the play3 , its terribly out of sync . Ive tried all kinds of different combinations , no luck . (Different Sonos ones, switched out the port for a connect etc) The port is connected to the receiver using a digital cable . Works fine by itself , but won’t sync when grouped . Ive read other posts about this problem , but i haven’t seen any resolution . Anybody know how to fix this ? Isn’t this supposed to work ?
I have very low volume when playing e.g. you tube or NETFLIX through Line In. Any advice?
Just bought sub woofer to match sound bar
I just got the email of a $50 price increase coming January 9th for Port and Amp….. this maybe the beginning of out-pricing their product. What’s everyone else’s thoughts on this?
So, I goofed, forgot about tradein, and got a Port to replace a ZP80. I’ve noticed that prices of course have plummeted, for obvious reasons. My ZP80 has only been in use for three years - I bought it NIB, still plastic wrapped, in 2016. Other than the legacy issue, it should have years of life for someone not upgrading their whole system. The problem of course, is how does a potential buyer know I haven’t traded it in? How do I sell it and then not have someone claim it’s been recycled and demand money back? Anyone have ideas?
Hi there! I’m trying to wrap my head around one issue with integrating Sonos and my Hi-Fi setup and I’m open for any advice or suggestions that might solve the issue: I have Sonos around my flat. In my living room I have a Hifi system with a turntable. So far, I either listen to my records or I stream. For that there are a pair of Play:5 sitting right next to my old loudspeakers. I wish to marry my stereo with Sonos. The reason I didn’t do it so far is the lag when streaming analog audio while using the Hifi system simultaneously. My space is very open, the rest of the flat lagging behind the main room is no option at all. My setup consists of a Pro-Ject Pre Box DS2 with two mono power amps behind. No I had the following thought; Putting Sonos in between pre- and power amp would get rid of the streaming lag, but at the same time all my analog audio would go through Sonos DAC. Am I right here? If this is right, the Sonos Port should have something like an “analog signal through” optio
I do hope guys over at Sonos are reading this. If there’s one thing that I feel is lacking from the brand, then it’s a cheaper alternative to the Sonos Sub. One that will fit well with a pair of Sonos One speakers, both in terms of sound and price. Sonso One is what got me into the brand. It’s compact and minimalist. Works well with every environment. While I do have the connect and (as far as I understand) could get a 200-300 quid subwoofer on amazon with no problems, they all look like trashy 90s boxes. Please Sonos, make a cheaper version of the Sonos Sub.
If you change your mind on the Trade Up program Sonos is NO HELP.. They Brick your equipment and say there is nothing they can do. Just because they have a poor process I am out of equipment and they have been no help to resolve.
Hi all, I have recently (2weeks ago) bought a pair of the Sonos play5 gen2 speakers. Using them as a stereo pair in a fairly large living room. I am now thinking of buying a Sonos sub to get some more low end base and clear up the midrange. But… When reading that Sonos is discontinuing some of their older products i am starting to hesitate whether i should purchase the Sub or not. The Sub was launched in 2012 in Sweden if I remember correctly and costs around 800 dollars here still. So it’s design is now 8 years old. 800 dollars is a hefty bunch of money to most, so I don’t really want to invest in a 8year old model to have it discontinued 6months later. What are your thoughts on the Sub and it’s now 8year old design? Will Sonos discontinue this as they did with the connect and play5 gen1 recently? Will there be another updated Sub to replace this soon? Do I dare to invest in this product? Regards:Kris
