The Connect (Gen 2) works with the S2 app, whereas the first generation of the Connect is S1 only.

The hard thing is to identify if you have a gen 1 or gen 2, since they weren’t labeled as such. You’d need to search these forums for when that changeover appeared.
I understand the Sonos play 1, 2 and sonos sound bar, whether gen 1 or not can run on the S2 app.
