Hi. I’ve got about 10 Sonos dotted around the house and I’m running a SonosNet Channel. (My sounder is wired up on ethernet.)

I’ve got a pair in one of the bedrooms, but the same speaker keeps dropping out every night. I unplug/replug and it works fine. But then almost like clockwork it drops again. 

The speaker is high up on the wall and there are no other electronics nearby. 

I’ve tried every channel but I get the same result regardless. 

My diagnostic report is 1434150944.

As you’re using a SonosNet connection simply ensure the routers 2.4Ghz WiFi signal is set 5 channels away from the chosen SonosNet channel. Set the channel-width to 20MHz only and if the issue continues, then maybe do these few things…

  1. Move the wired Sonos device, so nothing nearby is able to interfere with its SonosNet signal, or even change the wired device if necessary, but keep it wired to the main router only.
  2. As long as there are no portable Sonos devices in the setup (Move or Roam), then remove the WiFi network credentials from the Sonos App network settings (as necessary) as these are not required when running all your devices on a SonosNet signal. It may stop devices hopping between SonosNet and a WiFi signal in some cases.
  3. If the bedroom speaker continues to cause issues and is far away from the root bridge (wired Sonos device), then perhaps try a ‘man in the middle’ Sonos device to see if that may create a better SonosNet connection to the speaker. You may need to reboot all your speakers to perhaps get this to work successfully.

I’ve changed my channel for 2.4 to 11 whereas Sonos is 1. We’ll see if that makes a difference.

I do have have a Roam and shame it cannot connect to Sonosnet. Might just have to rely on Bluetooth for that. 

For the “man in the middle” speaker, wouldn’t my other bedroom speaker fulfill that role? It never cuts out. Only the other one cuts.

If it is happening at a specific time it might be an IPv4 DHCP issue.

Setting static IPs for your Sonos, from your router might help.

Update. Hasn’t dropped. Switching the channel on my wifi seems to have done the trick. Thanks!
