Hi, should an iPad Air running 12.5.5 be able to connect to my existing sonos system?

I know the system is fine as my iphone 7 running 15.0.2 can connect to it, but for some reason the iPAD no longer can, they are both on the same wifi.

Assuming it’s on the same network as the Sonos, yes, as it matches the information in the supported OS for controllers FAQ.

I note there is a difference between IOS and iPadOS?

  • iOS 12 and higher
  • iPadOS 13 and higher

Ah. Yes, from Apple’s perspective, yes. Which probably does translate to Sonos’ perspective. Sorry, I didn’t catch that originally, but it is likely the issue you’re having.

I, too, tend to forget the OS running on my iPhone is actually different than the one on my iPad. Despite the length of time that’s been true….it just hasn’t burrowed its way into my brain.

I have an iPad Air with iOS 12.5.5 (16H62) and that works fine with the S2 controller version 13.4.1 (build 66423220). Try to switch on Location services and reboot the iPad (switch off/on).

iPadOS only came into existence as a separate brand at iPadOS 13. There was no iPadOS 12.
