I’d call Sonos Support to discuss it. The only Sonos folks who respond in this community forum are the Forum Moderators, and they’re not likely to do much other than point you to support as well.
That being said, Sonos doesn’t have any ‘authorized’ repair centers where you can get items fixed. I believe there’s a company in the UK who advertises that they work on Sonos, but they’re not ‘authorized’. Of course, replacing an optical socket shouldn’t be impossible, you might check with a local electronics repair shop to see if they’re willing. I’m not familiar enough with any local places in the PNW to make any suggestions, though.
This is no repair option for a Sonos Playbar. If you are the original owner you may be able to get a 15 or 30 percent upgrade credit towards the purchase of an Arc Ultra or Beam 2. Even if you obtained the Playbar as used and the original owner did not claim the upgrade credit you can get it as the registered owner.
Repair may be hard but maybe you can work around the broken clip by securing the cable into the socket with something external.
Maybe a couple glued on hooks and a rubber band?
Does the optical connection on end of an optical cable ONLY matter at the point of light? In other words, if I use tape or glue around the gold part, would that impact the connection, flow of bits or otherwise? Thanks all.
Most of them are plastic, a non current carrying substance, so taping or gluing (wince) should be fine.
The light carrying fiber is the only data carrying part.
You could even hot-glue in a short TOS extension cable to make it more convenient.
