Hi, Sonos aside, what I'm trying to describe is how a song sounds when you listen to it with only 1 speaker (of a 2 speaker pair) activated and you can only hear one "half" of the song in that speaker. The leading instruments (as an example) sound muted, as they are supposed to be played out of the second speaker. This effect is happening on my solo Play 1 speaker, albeit only for certain songs. If you want to try and replicate, play "Dear Mr. Fantasy" from this album on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/4DVHx9Smqa6ZZX99rU4zkI For me, the leading vocals and guitar are quite muted. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
I have a zp100 that I bought used and does not qualify for Rma. Recently, it began dropping off the network. After troubleshooting with tech support, it seems the unit freezes up. It begins working again after reboot, until it freezes up again. It can last anywhere from 1 to 10+ hours between incidents. By freezes up, I mean to say that it does not respond to button pushes on the unit itself. The led remains solid white, but no response to buttons and it is no longer visible on the network. After reboot, it behaves as expected for a while. We have identified it is not an ip conflict. Also, the network ports continue to work on the back, even when the unit is frozen. This behavior happens whether connected via wire or wireless. Tech support says it is a failing unit and not a network issue. I am looking for others who have had similar problems to see if they were able to diagnose and repair the unit on their own. Or, I am looking for advice for a good repair center that I
Hi- I have just purchased the Connect so I can get away from AirPlay-(interruptions with phone calls and things). I have hooked my connect up with the supplied RCA connectors- I will be getting an optical cable soon. The trouble is with the volume. While using AirPlay, I have to keep the Receiver(Sony STR-DN1030) volume at below 7 so it is not too loud. After hooking up the Connect, I have to start the volume near half-way just to hear it. I have changed the connect to "fixed" level and this helped a bit, but it is still way quieter than the level of any other source. My concern is that the receiver does not default to a low level and if anybody goes to AirPlay and I don't catch it and lower the volume first it could be an issue. Is there a way to get the Connect to a level that is at least a lot closer to every other source input? This might be the deal breaker. I had to convince my wife that it was worth the purchase in the first place, but as of now, I have been proven wr
Hello, I am new here so excuse me if I started in the wrong "area". I have the following feature request: Is it possible to create an option to Disable/Enable the buttons on de speakers (selectable to wich speaker) through the Sonos app? Now there is already a similar like the LED light on the speaker wich you can turn off. The reason for this request is I have a small child that is exploring the world :$ She has noticed the buttons and now can turn on the Sonos system and play with the volume. Thanks in advance!! Hi there. So, I have an Nvidia Shield, and 3 Play:1's (one of them is being used in the kitchen only). I really want the sound from my shield (when using Kodi etc) to go out through the Play:1's I know this is not possible without another Sonos Product. This is why Im strongly considering buying the Connect. My question for you is: Will I be able to output sound from my Nvidia Shield, when the Connect is plugged into my Smart tv?
I've recently acquired an Audio Technica AT-LP120 turntable and am looking into connecting it to my Sonos system. I've scoured the forums and am pretty sure about the answer, but thought I'd double check with you guys. The turntable has a built-in preamp, so am I right in assuming that I can wire it to a Connect and stream it to my Sonos speakers without the need for a separate amplifier? There won't be any speakers wired directly to the turntable (I've already got a Connect:Amp wired to some Cambridge Audio floorstanders in the living room, but the boss won't allow a turntable in there!). Thanks in advance.
Video half way down http://www.theverge.com/2016/5/18/11702284/google-home-io-2016-ai-voice-search-advertisement Is it me, or is it the over the top American thing, but half way through I became annoyed. Perhaps because the family were talking to google more than each other!!!
Hey Sonos Engineers! I know this has been touched upon. I previously submitted this request to support and they encouraged me to share here to keep the conversation going. Is there any chance we could implement a soft switch for line-in audio to bypass the computer for "delay disable" functionality. I understand and appreciate the reason for the delay. However, I'm running turntables through a mixer and into the line-in of the PLAY:5. Can't teach my son to mix records with that delay, and since we're set-up in a communal space, my wife is not too keen on bringing out the old mix monitors. Can you dig it? Can we figure out a way to manually disable the delay on an individual speaker basis? Otherwise love the gear! Thanks! Here's quote from customer support. Hope it isn't too heavy handed or out of school to post: "I'm not on the development team, but I personally think that it wouldn't be too hard to implement some kind of soft switch to bypass the computer
Is there any converter on the marker that converts dts to dolby digital (With hdmi and optimal output and Hdmi input) Playing Blu rays With only dts HD or dts soundtracks is not possible With the playbar (I dont want to select pcm as output so that is not an option) Or IF anyone can recommend a blu-ray player With option to re encode dts to DD 5.1. IF you recommend one I need complete settings in audio menu. My Sony BDP-S 5500 has dolby digital compatible output (converts dts to DD 5.1 using edid) but its NOT I say again NOT working tried everything...reset all different settings etc. My tv supports DD 5.1 pass thru via hdmi (arc) to optical out on Tv so thats not the issue. Even tried connecting via coax out to toslink adapter and then to playbar without getting DD 5.1 . Please can anyone recommend a solution to get DD 5.1 to playbar When playing blu-ray disc with only dts soundtracks. The DD 5.1 soundtracks are always dubbed in some shit language like Spanish so I c
My customer has 4 connect boxes and 4 amps. I want to hookup the behringer XR12 wireless mixer to run a Samson wireless headset/mic. Have you had any interaction with something like this? The connect box has only 2 outputs. I was thinking of putting the Wi-Fi mixer on the main connect unit then put the headset on another unit as line-in and stream it to the connect with the mixer. What do you think of this setup?
I have a question for which I have found half the answer, but not all of it so far... Situation is as follows: - My only speaker at home at the moment is a Playbar, it might get extended with another Play (1/3/5) at some point. I have no passive speakers to use. - I would like to use the playbar with a turntable, which I would operate as a stand-alone device, i.e. not connected to any further system / receiver. The turntable has a built-in pre-amp. - I gather I can hook up the turntable with the sonos system using a connect device. --> Question: does this setup require a connect:amp, or would a connect be enough? Again, no additional passive speakers to use, all I want to achieve is linking the turntable with the playbar. Thanks for any insights :-)
Hi, In the same physical room, I have two Sonos "rooms": a TV room with a playbar, a Sub and two play:1 acting as surround speakers, and a "music" room wtih two play:5. Now, I realized that the play:5s sound much better when used in conjunction with a Sub, so I'm trying to share the same Sub between my "music" room and my "TV" room. Unfortunately, the only way I found to achieve that is by removing the Sub from one room and adding it to the other, which is painful, slow and also forces me to redo all optimizations. Is there any way the same Sub can be shared between two rooms? Sonos, could you add this to the wishlist? :) Thanks, David
Hello, I'd like to add a Play speaker in my garage (probably mount on the wall or ceiling). My garage is not temperature-controlled and I live in New Jersey, USA. So in the winter it will be cold (20-30 F) and in the summer it will be pretty warm (70-90 F) . . . pretty much what the temperature is outside. Can Play speakers handle these temps? What about the Connect:AMP? I'm also thinking about outdoor speakers, but the Connect:AMP would be in an unconditioned utility closet. Thanks, in advance, for your help!
I realise this is a bit of an "old chestnut" topic, but thought my experience may be of interest to anyone going this route. Had a rather nice Xmas present of Sennheiser RS 175 wireless phones. These have a digital optical input (cable supplied) as well as the usual analog inputs. Wired this to my Sonos Connect optical output (the Connect is powering my conventional Hi Fi system) The result is very pleasing, works a treat with Sonos. The sound quality is all I could wish for & the range seems more than adequate for our 3 bed house.
So it's Boxing day, and I've just received a lovely big SONOS Play:1 speaker for Christmas. I set the speakers up and try to find them on my system. Nothing. I do some research, trying to figure out why I can only play through SONOS app and verified programmes approved through the SONOS app. Why something which clearly cost more than a few pretty pennies is essentially useless for anything other than playing music. No live sound, no video sync, nothing but music through SONOS. So the decrepit old speakers I have had since 2000 are essentially doing a better job than the basic model of SONOS. Not only this but my cheap shower bluetooth speaker I bought for my boyfriend (£5.99) can do what this supposedly amazing modern and high quality technology cannot. Which is play ANY sound off of my computer or phone that I want it to. How is this a complicated concept and why, after literally years and years of community comments and wailings and clearly strong customer dissatisfaction hav
