Hi My father in law handed me a massive box of CD's and gave me instructions to replace his old cd based music system in his holiday house. He's old as is his partner. Neither use a mobile phone. Neither have a computer of any sort based in the holiday house. I have no clue where to start. Can anyone suggest a set up for me? How do I get the CD's into the cloud and then back into a Sonos system? I'm thinking of providing a tablet to them that would be their entry into the system. I'd love the help..
I have a home already wired with sets of speakers in 6 separate rooms and another set outdoors for my deck. Each set has a separate volume control and a switch to alternate between 2 different sources. Additionally I have a separate garage with wired speakers. I run the speakers with 2 separate amps and can then listen to different sounds in each room. One of the amplifiers used to receive input from my Bose surround sound system as it had AV outputs I could connect to the amp. This allowed me to listen to the TV audio anywhere in the home and without any delay. The sound system died and the new ones don't have this so was looking to change everything and am looking at the Sonos to replace it. So questions I have: 1. If I change to the Sonos system as my family room surround system can I connect this also to the amp to hear sound in other rooms? 2. Can I connect the amp to a Sonos setup to somehow send the sound being played such as a cd or album to some type of wireless conn
Hi There I have an Apple Express connected to the Kitchen Connect on the LineIn. It works great streaming youtube to it from my iphone/ipad. However, if I add other Connects (Lounge, bedroom etc) then they will all play the first track but then only the Kitchen plays the next track. They still show in the group but I have to ungroup and regroup. I have tried this with the other connects and they all do the same thing. Grouping and playing from the Sonos library is fine. Latest firmware on all devices. Thank you
I bought a few days ago a Sonos Play 1. After the initial optimization with the Sonos software I began to perceive unpleasant distortion in the supply of low. I then redid the calibration True Play, but the result didn't change much. Is it necessary to act on the equalizer, in your opinion? Or my product could be damaged? Thank you for your contribution and sorry for bad English
I posted question before and was answered with questions I was some time replying to and now think have lost the person's help. We inherited a wired in Sonos system with our house knowing nothing about such things and it's on three floors of house each with more than one room having speakers. There's an intimidating Yamaha amplifier in basement floor- a big complex audio box that has huge number of cables seemingly connecting whole Sonos system, however using iPhone App no sound comes out of speakers on this basement floor despite App showing something is playing. I should point out that all speakers in house are built into ceilings except two of those in basement which are large standalone wired speakers. The other problem is whilst no problems generally with sound on other two floors, the bathroom has a built in tv that received sound through a LineIn. This no longer playing the tv content. In did before.
Hi guys, I'm new to sonos but really happy to be part of the community. So far I've got sound bar, play 1s and sub. I notice these are powered up Individually with plug. My question is can these be left plugged in 24/7 For long periods of time or do they need to be turned off when not in use. Thanks for support Kro Brummie65
I'm always pleased to receive updates to my Sonos software. To be honest though, I've not really seen any major changes since I've been using the kit... 8years. It's not Spotify integration that interests me, it's seeing other products coming to market that offer voice control functionality. Whilst I absolutely know the quality of the Sonos sound is excellent, it's becoming increasingly the case that I'm looking to the feature rich alternatives, that perhaps give an overall better package. For me, voice integration is a natural progression... even if that isn't directly via the Sonos units, but via my smart phone. I think Sonos could end up being left behind in the wider environment - sound quality isn't the only consideration of most users. Thoughts? John :-)
I have one each of the Play 1, 3 and 5. It has been very good until the past couple of months - over the summer- suddenly the play 5 (gen 1) would cut out here and there. But lately it has gotten so bad that it will barely play any music at all. When grouped with the other speakers or by itself, the Controller acts as if the music is going and the other speakers play but not the play 5. Or when on its own, same thing, every once in a great while the music cuts on and then fades out. Seems very controlled in that it fades out so nicely. I have unplugged it and factory reset it. I have redone the entire sonos network and restarted it all. After scouring the internet for questions, I thought that is was likely too much interference. Living in the city, not much I can do about that. After reading some different threads/ info online, I determined it must be interference and purchased a Boost. Here is some addition info: - this is an Apple time capsule network - play 5 music goes in
So prior to joining the Beta I used my speakers as extender/repeaters for my wireless signal. Is it no longer a viable option within the Beta program? I no longer see the speakers in my list of wireless points nor can I find the sonosnet option in my sonos controller on my android machines or Windows desktop.
I have a Connect working well on two Play 5 speakers using the Audio line out from my Bose MC1 Media Centre. The play 5 speakers are in a seperate room to the Bose system (with its Bose speakers) I would like to now add the ability to play the streamed Sonos content through the Bose system, which I assumed would be a simple task of using the Sonos RCA line out as an input into a Bose audio input. Then selecting that input on the Bose system should work - it didn't ! I have tried disconnecting the Audio line in to the Connect in case of any conflict, but this made no difference. Any suggestions appreciated.
Is anyone else having trouble using Sony's new "Music Connect" feature with a Sonos Connect (ZP90)? I've found that when I utilize Sony's built in switch to distribute network to my components (including Connect), I get no response about 90% of the time. Sonos streams fine but Music Connect input switching fails to work entirely. When I run LAN to an unmanaged switch and THEN to my components, my Music Connect success rate leaps up to about 20%. Still around 75-80% failure rate. Unless I'm overlooking something, this Sony feature kinda ...stinks. Am I alone here?
I am connecting devices wireless to my beamer via a Chromecast (HDMI). The beamer is hanging at the ceiling. The sound now comes out of the beamer. The beamer has a line out connection so I can connect my beamer to the headphone jack of my play 5, but then of course I need a cable from my beamer to my play:5. Of course this is not an acceptable solution. Hanging the play:5 at the ceiling isn't an option as well. Splitting video and sound from my device results in synchronisation issues + I would still need a cable from my device to Sonos. So what alternatives do I have to connect my beamer to Sonos? Isn't there a small device that only has a headphone jack and the ability to connect to the sonos network?
