Surround Sound Speaker Settings

Just received the Sonos “Immersive Set with Beam” couldn’t wait to get it up and running. I’m in my 70s so please reply slowly…. Over the years I’ve had several systems that always allowed me to set a baseline volume level for each speaker in a surround sound configuration. I spent about 4 hours this afternoon on the Sonos App and no such luck.  I remember reading a blog about placing each ERA100 in its own room and going that route, with that, I was able to set the volume of each speaker but not able to save it when done.  Was hoping for the ability to save those settings that would stay proportional increased or decreased the grouping volume.  I though perhaps the “Zone” function would do that but didn’t have any luck.  Any help would be appreciated.

You might consider using the Sonos the way they were designed to be used rather than trying to force them to imitate a differently designed system. I'm also in my 70s and the move from AVR 5.1 systems to Sonos systems was quite a change.

First you are going to have to choose, do you want the sound from your TV to play as intended, all in sync with the video or do you want the surrounds to play with a 75 ms delay. That delay ruins the sound for me. Also in this choice is do you want the surronds to play the surround channels or a down-mix of the front channels sound.

The Sonos way is to connect the Beam to the TV and then Bond both surrounds and Sub to it. All will play in synchronized sound, and all will play the correct audio stream from the TV,

Trying to set up a poor imitation of an AVR system, using your Sonos as three different Rooms. Then you'll get the delay/echo and the lack of surround audio. You will have complete control of the volume levels but it will sound awful.

Set it up as the single Room, run Trueplay, the built-in version or if you have a compatible device the advanced Trueplay. From there you can use the Settings menus for each Room to tune your Sonos to your ears.
