Hi,

I have a facility with 5 Sonos Ports. each in different floor. each Port connected to dedicated Amp and speakers.
All Ports reside on the same network (VLAN)

the need is to be able to make the 1st Port determine the music that would be played through the rest 4 Port devices.
Is that possible to do through using the Port devices only?
thanks

Yes, you’ll just use the grouping feature.

It’s not so much that a single port decides what is played, but they all play the same source.  Are you saying that there is a line -in  input on the first port is the source for all the speakers in the group?  Yes, you can do that, if that’s what you mean.

Remember the group feature is semi-permanent, so when the speakers need a restart, say after an update, the group will fall apart and you’d have to group the Ports again. You can make this easier if you ad the Ports to a named group, see https://support.sonos.com/en-us/article/group-and-ungroup-rooms
