Current setup:

turntable --> pre-amp --> era 100.

i want to have the turntable audio also play out of my Adam A5X active studio monitors.

Can i get a sonos port, and connect the outputs to the Adam A5x(no inputs connected to port) and then group the Era 100 turntable audio to the port, so that the audio from the turntable plays out of both the era 100 and the adam a5x’s via the port?

if so, will there be a delay of any kind?

Yes, assuming I understand you correctly.

Room A

  • Turn table > preamp > Era 100 (using Sonos proprietary line-in adapter)

Room B

  • Powered Speakers > Port line-Out

Grouping

  • Start music in Room A then Group in Room B

When streaming you can start the stream in either room and group-in the other. There should be no delay.

exactly as you stated…

perfect! thank you..

slight correction it should be port line-out → powered speakers right?

also, if i want to have a cd player connected to the era 100...do you know of an input selector switch i could use that could go between the turntable/cd player and era 100 so i can switch between them?

Any passive RCA switch should be adequate, you can of course get fancy.

Gald, it worked out…

Regarding your comment

  • “slight correction it should be port line-out → powered speakers right?”

I wrote my response as below to emphasize that the speakers must be connected to line-out of the Port to receive the audio. Some get confused as to which device the powered speakers or Port is actually sending the audio which is the Port.

  • Powered Speakers > Port line-Out

To connect a CD player to the Era 100’s you’re going to need RCA to RCA cable x 3 and RCA to 3.5mm x 1

  • Turntable RCA to RCA cable > PreAmp -In > Pre-Amp Out RCA to RCA cable > Switch-Input
  • RCA to RCA cable CD-Out > Switch-Input
  • RCA to 3.5MM cable from Switch-out > Sonos proprietary line-in adapter > Era 100

See switches here

@AjTrek1 I tend to “follow the sound” when describing connections, as @streetsruly would do. So Port out to active speakers. Anything else seems wrong to me.

If you have another SONOS unit with Line-In capability, you could connect the CD player to the other unit.
